As the days turned into weeks, Jeonghan and Seungcheol found themselves settling into a rhythm that balanced their studies, wedding plans, and personal time together. They continued to lean on each other, finding solace in their quiet moments at home—sharing dinner, talking late into the night about everything and nothing, and supporting one another through the ups and downs of life.
Jeonghan's amnesia still lingered, but he continued to grow stronger in his recovery. With every passing day, he could feel more of himself returning, even if it was just fragments of memories. Some were fleeting, like the image of him and Seungcheol laughing together at a concert, or the scent of his mother's perfume. But with each new memory, Jeonghan's heart swelled with a sense of hope. He didn't need to remember everything, he realized. The love they shared now was enough, and it was more than enough to build their future on.
In their late-night wedding planning sessions, Jeonghan would sometimes pause and look at Seungcheol, his eyes filled with tenderness. "I know I've been quiet about the wedding for a while, but I think we're getting it right. I think we're really doing this, together."
Seungcheol would smile, his heart feeling lighter every time Jeonghan spoke those words. "We are. And no matter what happens, it's going to be perfect because we're doing it our way."
The decision to move forward slowly, to take their time, seemed to have brought a sense of peace to both of them. The pressure was lifted, and Jeonghan no longer felt like he had to rush to find answers for everything. As much as he loved the idea of the wedding, what mattered most to him now was that he was with Seungcheol, that they were building a future together.
But even with that peace, the approaching wedding still loomed large. There were times when Jeonghan would catch himself in a moment of doubt, wondering whether he was truly ready to commit so fully. It was during these moments that Seungcheol would remind him of the love they shared, gently reassuring him that they didn't need to have everything figured out.
"You don't have to remember everything, Han," Seungcheol would say, his voice calm and steady. "All we need is each other. We've already been through so much together, and we're still here. That's what matters."
Despite everything, the weight of Jeonghan's past still haunted him. The lingering loss of memories was a constant, unspoken ache, even though he never voiced it aloud. He had spent so many years with a certain sense of identity, and losing parts of that was difficult. The idea of a wedding, of committing to something so permanent, felt both overwhelming and heartwarming. It was a symbol of their future, and yet it felt like a huge step.
It was on one of these nights, while they were sitting side by side, the soft glow of the evening sun casting shadows across their living room, that Jeonghan finally found the words.
"I've been thinking a lot about everything," Jeonghan said softly, looking at their wedding planner. His fingers grazed the pages, tracing the outlines of the venue, the floral arrangements, the guest list. But his mind was elsewhere. "You know, when I look at all these details, sometimes I feel like I'm pretending. I don't remember everything, and I don't know if I can live up to the idea of who I was before. But with you... it feels right. Maybe that's all that matters."
Seungcheol's heart ached a little at Jeonghan's words, but he understood. He didn't want Jeonghan to feel burdened by the weight of the past or the idea of being perfect. He wanted him to be present, to be here with him in the now.
He gently took Jeonghan's hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing the back of it softly. "I don't need you to be who you were before, Han. I love who you are now, and that's enough for me. We're building something new. A life that's just ours."
