A month later, the apartment was a mix of packed boxes, empty shelves, and the familiar hum of anticipation that came with big life changes. The New York skyline, which had once been their daily backdrop, was now a faint silhouette in the distance as Jeonghan and Seungcheol worked together, sorting through their belongings, packing up their life in the city. The reality of moving back to Seoul was starting to settle in, and with it, a wave of bittersweet emotions.
Jeonghan stood by the window for a moment, looking out over the bustling city. He had spent years here, building his life, chasing his dreams, and growing in ways he hadn't expected. But now, with graduation behind him and the next chapter ahead, he knew it was time to return home. Seoul had always been a place of comfort and familiarity, even if it had been a while since he had lived there.
"Cheol, you okay?" Jeonghan asked softly, turning to see Seungcheol carefully wrapping up a stack of books with bubble wrap. His husband's face was serious, his brow furrowed in concentration, but Jeonghan could tell he was deep in thought.
Seungcheol glanced up, meeting Jeonghan's gaze with a small smile. "I'm good. Just... trying to make sure nothing gets broken." He paused, setting the wrapped books into one of the many boxes. "It's just hard to believe we're really leaving, you know?"
Jeonghan nodded, walking over to sit beside Seungcheol, leaning against the couch. "Yeah, I get it. This place... it's been home for so long. But I think it's time, right? For both of us." He gave Seungcheol a soft smile, his hand reaching out to rest gently on his husband's. "Seoul is where we started. And it's where we're going to build the next part of our life."
Seungcheol squeezed Jeonghan's hand, his expression softening. "I know. It's just hard to let go of the memories here, even if they're not the ones I thought I'd have forever. I mean, it's where we became... us." He chuckled, glancing around the apartment one last time. "I can't believe how much we've changed since we first moved in here."
Jeonghan chuckled too, his eyes twinkling with fondness as he leaned in, pressing a kiss to Seungcheol's cheek. "Well, a lot has happened, Cheol. We've come a long way. And we have so much more to do."
The weight of the move was still there, but as Jeonghan and Seungcheol spent the day packing, organizing, and reminiscing, it felt less like a goodbye and more like a new adventure. Their shared glances and easy conversations reminded them that no matter where they were, they would always have each other.

By the time evening rolled around, most of the apartment was packed, save for the essentials they'd need for the final night. They sat together on the couch, a bowl of takeout food in front of them, exhausted but content. The window was cracked just enough to let in a breeze, and the sound of the city below felt comforting in its familiar chaos.
"I think we've done enough for today," Seungcheol said, putting his chopsticks down. He stretched, his arms reaching above his head. "We can finish up tomorrow. This is actually... kind of fun."
Jeonghan laughed softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Fun? This is exhausting, Cheol," he teased, leaning against his husband's shoulder. "But I'm glad we're doing it together."
"Always," Seungcheol replied, wrapping an arm around Jeonghan, pulling him close. "Always together."
As the evening wore on, they took a moment to simply be still. There was a kind of peace in the small apartment, despite the packing chaos. It was a strange feeling to know they were moving on from this place, but it was also the next logical step in their journey. It wasn't the end of something—it was the beginning of something even bigger.
