The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains, painting the walls of their bedroom in soft golden hues. The sound of the city beginning to stir wafted in through the slightly open window—a mix of distant traffic, chirping birds, and the faint hum of life in Seoul. For Seungcheol, it was a day of both excitement and nerves: his first job interview since moving back, with one of the city's most prominent tech companies. It was an opportunity he'd been preparing for tirelessly, but the weight of the moment made his chest feel tight as the reality of the day settled in.
Jeonghan, already awake and dressed in a cozy cream-colored sweater and navy lounge pants, stood by the window sipping his coffee. He turned when he heard Seungcheol stir, a fond smile spreading across his face as he approached the bed.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," Jeonghan greeted, his voice light and teasing. "Today's the big day. How are you feeling?"
Seungcheol sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes before giving Jeonghan a groggy smile. "Nervous," he admitted with a sheepish shrug. "It's been a while since I've done something like this."
Jeonghan perched on the edge of the bed, setting his coffee cup down on the bedside table. "That's normal, but you've got this, Cheol. You've been working so hard, and you're great at what you do. They're going to see that."
Seungcheol reached out, taking Jeonghan's hand in his. "Thanks, Han. I needed to hear that." He squeezed Jeonghan's hand lightly before throwing off the covers. "Alright, time to get moving."
Jeonghan laughed softly, standing to let him get out of bed. "Breakfast will be ready when you're done. I'm not letting you face this day without something to eat."
Seungcheol smiled at Jeonghan's thoughtfulness and headed to the bathroom. The sound of water running filled the apartment as he took a shower, letting the warm spray wash away the lingering grogginess and tension. Afterward, he dressed carefully, choosing a crisp white shirt paired with a perfectly tailored navy blazer and matching slacks. His polished black shoes completed the look, giving him an air of quiet professionalism.

When he emerged from the bedroom, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and warm toast filled the air. The dining table was set with a simple but hearty breakfast: scrambled eggs, slices of avocado, golden-brown toast, and a small bowl of fruit. A steaming mug of coffee sat beside the plate, the aroma inviting and comforting.
"Wow," Seungcheol said, smiling as he approached the table. "You didn't have to go all out."
Jeonghan looked up from where he was buttering his own toast. "Of course, I did. Big days call for good food. Plus, you need the energy."
Seungcheol took a seat, his nerves easing as he looked at the spread before him. "You really do think of everything, don't you?"
Jeonghan grinned, sitting across from him. "It's my job to make sure you're at your best. Besides, it's not every day my husband interviews for a top-tier company."
As they ate, Jeonghan kept the conversation light, steering it away from the interview to help Seungcheol relax. He shared little anecdotes about their neighbors, mused over what they should cook for dinner, and even cracked a few jokes that earned soft chuckles from Seungcheol. By the time breakfast was over, Seungcheol felt lighter, the knot of nerves in his stomach loosened by Jeonghan's calm and supportive presence.

After finishing his meal, Seungcheol grabbed his laptop bag from the corner of the room and checked to make sure everything was in order: printed resumes, a pen, and his notebook. Jeonghan followed him to the door, watching as he slipped on his blazer and adjusted his tie.
