The next day, Jeonghan decided to stop by the boutique to check on the renovations. The weather was cool and crisp, with a slight breeze ruffling his hair as he walked through the bustling streets of Seoul. Clad in a cozy beige cardigan over a turtleneck and dark slacks, he looked every bit the stylish entrepreneur. A soft smile played on his lips as he approached the storefront, the excitement of seeing his dream take shape bubbling within him.
The boutique's façade was almost complete, with its freshly painted signage gleaming above the door and the large, beautiful stained glass windows catching the morning light in colorful shards. As he stepped inside, the familiar scent of paint and sawdust greeted him, along with the hum of workmen chatting and moving about.
"Ah, Mr. Yoon, good morning!" The lead contractor greeted him warmly, wiping his hands on his apron. "You're just in time. We've made significant progress since your last visit. Would you like a quick tour?"
"Good morning!" Jeonghan responded cheerfully, shaking the man's hand. "Yes, I'd love to see how things are coming along."
As they walked through the boutique, Jeonghan's eyes sparkled with pride. The ground floor was starting to look like a real store. The walls were painted in a soft, neutral tone that complemented the vibrant patterns of the stained glass windows, and the shelving units were being installed along one side of the room. A beautiful wooden counter stood near the entrance, its sleek design tying together the boutique's elegant yet welcoming aesthetic.
"This is amazing," Jeonghan said, running his hand along the counter. "It's really starting to come together."
The contractor chuckled. "We're about 70% done. Most of the ground floor is nearly finished—just a few touches left, like lighting and the final coat of varnish on the floors. The second floor, though, still needs a bit of direction from you."
Jeonghan tilted his head thoughtfully as they climbed the stairs to the upper level. The second floor was spacious, with tall windows letting in plenty of natural light. It was a blank canvas, waiting for Jeonghan to decide its purpose.
"I've been going back and forth on what to do with this space," Jeonghan admitted, pacing slowly. "Part of me thinks it would be perfect as my workshop—a quiet space to design, brainstorm, and bring my ideas to life."
The contractor nodded. "That makes sense, especially if you're planning to create unique pieces for the boutique. Having a dedicated workspace could be a great advantage."
"But then," Jeonghan continued, stopping to lean against the window frame, "I also wonder if I should use this space to expand the boutique's offerings. Maybe create a cozy café corner where customers can relax, or use it to display more clothing and accessories. It could add a whole new dimension to the store."
He sighed, crossing his arms as he gazed out the window. The view of the bustling street below was both inspiring and overwhelming. "It's such an important decision," he murmured. "I want this boutique to feel special, like a place people remember and want to come back to."
The contractor gave him an encouraging smile. "Whatever you choose, it's clear you're putting a lot of heart into this. And that's what's going to make this boutique stand out. Take your time—it's your vision, after all."
Jeonghan nodded, appreciating the reassurance. "Thank you. I think I'll need a little more time to decide. But one thing's for sure—this space has so much potential."
He spent the next hour walking around the boutique, taking notes and imagining how the finished space would look. He could already picture racks of beautifully curated clothing on the ground floor, sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows, and the buzz of happy customers.
