The following week, as the crisp autumn air swept through the streets of Seoul, Jeonghan and Seungcheol's excitement continued to grow as they eagerly awaited news from the adoption agencies they had contacted. They'd spent the past few days continuing their research, exploring more about the adoption process, and preparing themselves for the next steps in the journey. They knew the process wouldn't be quick, but they couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building with each passing day.
It was late in the afternoon when the phone rang.
Jeonghan had just finished sorting through a stack of paperwork when the ringtone broke the silence. He picked up his phone, glancing at the caller ID. It was from an unknown number, but the area code was familiar—it was the adoption center they had emailed earlier in the week, the one they had felt drawn to because of its personalized approach and glowing reviews.
His heart skipped a beat as he answered the call. "Hello?"
"Hello, is this Mr. Yoon?" a warm voice asked on the other end of the line.
"Yes, this is him speaking," he replied, his voice steady but filled with hope. "How can I help you?"
"This is Park Jiwon from Hanuri Adoption Center. I'm calling in response to the email you sent us last week. We've reviewed your application, and after discussing your details with our team, we're very excited to tell you that we'd like to move forward with you and your husband."
Jeonghan's heart fluttered in his chest as he shared a quick glance with Seungcheol, who had been sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone. The look in Jeonghan's eyes made Seungcheol immediately sit up, his attention shifting completely to his husband.
"That's... amazing," Jeonghan said, trying to contain his excitement. "We're so glad to hear that. What are the next steps?"
Park Jiwon's voice was warm and encouraging. "First, we'd like to schedule a home study visit. This is a mandatory step for all prospective parents, and it gives us the opportunity to learn more about your living environment, your family dynamic, and your preparedness for adoption. Once we've completed the home study, we can start discussing potential matches with children."
Jeonghan's thoughts raced, imagining the moment when they would finally meet the child who would join their family. "We're ready. When can we schedule the home study?"
"We can arrange a visit as soon as next week," Park Jiwon replied. "Our social worker, Ms. Choi, will reach out to you to coordinate the details. In the meantime, we'll send you an information packet with all the necessary documents and steps to follow. You'll also be required to take an orientation session about the adoption process."
Jeonghan's voice trembled with gratitude and excitement. "Thank you so much. We're really looking forward to it."
"We're excited as well," Park Jiwon said, her tone warm. "You both seem like wonderful candidates. I'm confident that this will be a great experience for you."

After exchanging pleasantries and confirming the details, the call ended. Jeonghan slowly lowered the phone, his hands slightly trembling. He looked over at Seungcheol, whose eyes were wide with anticipation.
"They want to move forward with us," Jeonghan said, his voice filled with disbelief. "We're moving to the next step. They want to schedule the home study visit."
Seungcheol's face broke into a wide grin, and without saying another word, he stood up and pulled Jeonghan into a tight embrace. "I knew it. I knew we were meant for this."
