065. I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO DIE

Chapter sixty five

"I just can't seem to die." 

Everyday from then on, Katniss and Hunter spent their days hiding and their nights running, because the saviors kept coming, no matter how many of them she killed, and she knew that they weren't doing it to bring her back to the sanctuary, they wanted her dead, and she knew Hunter was gonna get caught in the crossfire and she couldn't allow that, where that morning, while Hunter was sleeping, Katniss stood up, grabbing the bag, she walked off far from where they had been hiding, as she put the bag down, zipping it open, she took out the explosives and began planting them along the ground so when the saviors did come, she could blow them up.

But as she was setting up the detonator, putting it high up in a tree "Katniss!" Hunter called out, and when he did, Katniss began running in that direction, she was reminded of Lilian, how when she found her, she practically was already dead "Katniss! Katniss help!" Hunter called out, as Katniss kept running, she found Hunter with his foot stuck in a bear trap "Katniss!" he voiced, as Katniss ran over to him, sticking her knife into it, she pulled it apart, getting him free, Hunter was no longer that brave boy as he grabbed onto her "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave you." Katniss told him, pulling away "you're gonna be okay." she told him.

As a branch could be heard snapping behind her, Katniss turned, seeing a savior standing there, she shot him but her gun wasn't the only one to go off, where as she turned around, Hunters body was on the ground, shot dead, Katniss's eyes were wide "hey, red, come in." a voice filled her ears, and at the mention of red, she thought of Abraham, as her wide eyes turned into a glare, she turned looking at the dead saviors body "red, what's your location?" the voice came again, as Katniss stood up, walking over to him, she noticed the walkie on the ground, as she crouched down "red?" the voice asked, as Katniss grabbed the walkie, bringing it up to her, she pressed on the button "he's dead." she told him, letting go of the button "mockingjay." the savior told her. 

Katniss then pressed down on the button "Negan sent you all out here to kill me. So I'm gonna give you one more chance to turn back." she shared, letting go of it, she stood up and started running "you can't run forever!" the savior voiced, and as he did, Katniss slowed down, looking around her, she saw saviors walking through the woods "you're wrong. You're trapped out here." she told him, swinging her knife, she cut the rope that the detonator was attached to, setting off the explosives, Katniss went flying back, landing on the ground hard "Katniss." she heard Rick's voice in her head, as footsteps began coming up to her, Katniss turned only seeing their boots, before everything went dark.

Having been brought back to the sanctuary, a coffin was waiting for her, as they lied Katniss's body down into it, they closed it.

The next morning, Negan and the saviors had headed to alexandria, as they drove up "all courts are covered. Every contingency is already met. I come armed with two barrels of the truth. A test is upon you and I'm giving out the cheat sheet." Eugene told them all, as the vehicles came to a stop "hello. I come salved with the hope that it is my dropped knowledge that you heed. Options are zero to none. Compliance and fealty are your only escape. Bottom lining it..you may thrive, or you may die. I sincerely wish for the former for everyone's sake. The jig is up and in full effect. Will you comply, Rick?" Eugene asked.

"Where's Negan?" Rick asked, as Eugene brought down the megaphone "I'm Negan." he told him, as Rick sighed, and as he did, all the garbage people who were working alongside them aimed their guns at them, the gate to alexandria then opened, as Negan and all the other saviors got out of the trucks "you ever herd the one about the stupid little prick named Rick who though he knew shit but didn't know shit and got everyone he gave a shit about killed? It's about you. Ya'll are gonna wanna put your guns down now." Negan shared "no one drops anything." Rick told them, looking to Jadis "we had a deal." he told her.
