Third point of view.

As you walked out of the restroom, you felt the need for something to cool down your mind. A drink, maybe some water, anything to calm your thoughts. You made your way into the kitchen, which wasn't too far from where you had been earlier. The space was warm, dimly lit, with the soft hum of the fridge in the background.

As you stepped inside, your gaze immediately landed on a tray in the far corner of the counter. Curiosity piqued, and you couldn't help but move closer. You lifted the plate carefully, revealing the cookies---half-baked, oddly shaped, and clearly not quite finished.

A chuckle escaped you as you realized what they were. The cookies Emma had mentioned earlier, the ones Mikey had been trying to make. You couldn't help but laugh softly to yourself, but before you could think any further, you heard Mikey's voice, calling your name from behind.

"Y/n-chin?"

You spun around in surprise, only to see him standing at the entrance of the kitchen, his eyes wide when they landed on the tray in your hands. His face immediately turned red with embarrassment as he quickly rushed forward.

"No, no, no." Mikey mumbled, his voice tinged with panic. "You weren't supposed to see them yet!"

Before you could even respond, he was beside you, practically covering the tray with his body, as though trying to shield the cookies from your gaze. Mikey's eyes flickered to yours, a sheepish look overtaking his features as he nervously scratched the back of his head.

"Ah, crap, this is so embarrassing." He muttered under his breath. "I-I wanted to surprise you with them. It's... a work in progress." He added, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

You couldn't help but smile at the sight of him so flustered, trying so hard to keep the cookies hidden like it was some big secret.

It made you feel warm inside.

"Don't worry." You teased, trying to ease the awkwardness. "I'm sure they're not that bad."

You reached out, trying to gently move him aside to get a closer look, but he was persistent, blocking you with his body.

"No, no!" Mikey said, his hands moving to protect the tray. "You really shouldn't try them yet."

But you weren't having it. A mischievous smile tugged at your lips, and before Mikey could stop you, you reached past him, grabbing one of the cookies. "Mikey, come on, let me try them!"

He looked torn but finally sighed in defeat, dropping his hands. "Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you."

You bit into the cookie, feeling its hardness and sweetness a little too overwhelming. It wasn't exactly what you expected, but it was still endearing in its own way.

You couldn't help but smile, looking up at Mikey."Well, they're.. nice." You said, trying to make him feel better.

He blinked, and then let out a huge sigh of relief. "Really? You don't have to lie, Y/n-chin. I know they're awful." His shoulders slumped, and he leaned back against the counter. "I've been trying to make these for you for days now. This is by far the best attempt. I thought I could do better, but... yeah, they're still not perfect."

You watched how his brow furrowed in frustration, but during his explanation, you couldn't help but lose focus. Your gaze drifted down to his lips. A smile soon formed on your lips noticing how he was too caught up in his explanation to notice your gaze.

The feeling of his efforts, the countless times he'd tried to make you happy, the way he tried so hard for you all poured through you in that moment. It was too much to hold back.
