Third point of view.
Emma sat cross-legged on Mikey's bed, first-aid kit open beside her, dabbing disinfectant onto the cut on your cheek with a deep sigh. "I swear, you two are impossible." She muttered, shaking her head. "Well I kinda expected this from Mikey. But you, Y/n-san?" She let out a huff in annoyance.
You winced slightly at the sting, lips twitching in amusement. "Guess I disappointed you, huh?"
"Big time," She huffed, moving on to the gash on your arm. "You were supposed to be the responsible one! How do you end up just as banged up as my idiot brother?"
Clicked her tongue in frustration, she turned to Mikey next. "And you! You don't even care when you get hurt, do you?" She lightly smacked his shoulder, making him flinch.
She grabbed his chin a little too roughly, inspecting the bruises forming along his jaw. "And you let her run around like this even though she was hurt?"
Mikey pouted slightly. "What was I supposed to do? I was searching for her throughout the night."
"Unbelievable."
Mikey glanced at you before smirking. "At least we match now."
Emma groaned, pressing a little harder on one of his bruises just to make a point. "You two are hopeless."
You and Mikey exchanged a glance before laughing, much to Emma's frustration.
As she finished securing the last bandage before exhaling loudly, closing the first aid kit with a soft click. She stood up, dusting off her hands before turning to you with a small smile.
"You should just sleep in my room tonight, Y/n-san. For.. obvious reasons."
Mikey, who had been sitting quietly, immediately frowned. "That's pointless." He said flatly. "I was going to sleep on the couch anyway."
She gave him a long, tired look, as if debating whether or not to argue. But knowing her brother, she sighed in defeat, waving a hand dismissively.
"Fine, whatever. Do what you want." She turned to you, eyes a little softer now. "Goodnight, Y/n-san."
You nodded, offering a small smile. "Night, Emma."
As soon as she left, Mikey pushed himself up with a small grunt, grabbing a pillow and a noticeably worn-out blanket from the corner of his room. You watched as he walked over to the couch, casually fluffing the pillow before tossing the blanket over the cushions.
It was.. pitiful. That blanket had clearly seen better days.
You sighed, shifting slightly before calling out. "Mikey."
He paused, glancing at you. "Hm?"
You hesitated for a second before exhaling. "Just sleep here. With me."
His eyes widened slightly. "Really?"
You rolled your eyes, patting the spot beside you. "Yes."
Mikey didn't need to be told twice. With a grin, he abandoned his sad little setup and climbed onto the bed beside you, settling in with an easy, satisfied hum.
"Comfier, right?" You muttered.
He smirked, turning his head to look at you. "Definitely."
He reached over, switching off the light with a soft click, plunging the room into darkness. The only sounds left were the faint rustling of the sheets and the quiet hum of the city outside.
And for a while, that was it. Just quiet.
You stared up at the ceiling, but your mind was far from still. Everything that happened tonight, it all played over in your head. The fight with Black Dragon. The bruises still stinging on your skin. The fact that you won. That had to mean something, right? That the future had changed?
