Third point of view.
A clash of five hundred between Yokohama Tenjiku, Kanagawa's largest gang of hoodlums, and Tokyo Manji Gang, Tokyo's biggest biker gang was later named the Kanto Incident.
A war that ended with five arrests and three deaths. The five arrested were Tenjiku's top officers. The three dead were Emma Sano, Kurokawa Izana, and Kisaki Tetta.
The following day came too soon, and you now stood in front of Kakucho's hospital bed.
The white sheets and sterile smell of the room didn't suit him. He looked... wrong with his shoulder wrapped in heavy bandages. He was lucky that bullet had only hit his shoulder.
But was it really luck?
Because now he had to live with the aftermath.
His face was downcast, his hands limp over the covers, and even though his body had survived, a part of him looked like it had died along with Izana.
You took a slow breath before calling out,
"Kakucho."
For a second, he didn't react. Then, slowly, he turned his head toward you.
You exhaled softly. "After everything that happened yesterday... I was worried seeing you on the ground like that."
Before you could say more, Kakucho cut you off. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you."
He frowned, his gaze locking onto yours with confusion flickering in his tired eyes.
"No matter what happened, you were the only one who truly looked out for me.. took care of me."
His expression didn't change, but you kept going.
"You let me take out my frustrations on you. You let me hit you when I was angry. And even after all that, when I broke down, you gave me a shoulder to cry on. Never once complaining."
The room was silent except for the distant beep of hospital monitors. Until Kakucho lowered his head, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It was my job."
You shook your head. "Even so, I'm thankful to you."
His eyes widened slightly, as if he didn't expect to hear that.
You took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Kakucho. For everything. For all the hurtful things I said to you. You're a kind person and I respect that about you."
He sucked in a sharp breath, his head still lowered. His mouth opened slightly before he muttered, "How does that even matter right now? Izana is dead. What's the point of me staying alive?"
"You shouldn't blame yourself for his death," you said firmly. "Izana did what he thought was right. At that moment, saving you was his decision. And if he was truly your king, you should respect his decision."
Kakucho's breath hitched, his eyes widening as small tears gathered at the corners. He turned his face away quickly, trying to hide them, but you saw them anyway.
You let out a small sigh, watching as Kakucho kept his face turned away.
"I wish you all the best, Kakucho. I hope you recover soon." You bowed your head slightly. "Thank you.. for everything."
Stepping back, you turned towards the door without waiting for a reply, you knew he wouldn't give one. He had lost someone irreplaceable, and no words could ease that pain. So, quietly, you made your way out, pushing the door open before closing it gently behind you.
