You don't know me
In all the years of my life you have never known me
I am a stranger to you and the same can be said of you
You raised me to be one thing and when I broke away you tried to destroy me
I pray I never become like you
With a cold heart and bitter mind
To destroy the one you love with words that are designed to hurt
Takes a whole new level of cruelty from you
Yet here we are
I am a disappointment to you
A failure in all that I do and I let you say these words to me still
I fight back quietly once you're silent
Vowing never to let you do this to me again
Will I ever truly be free from what you do to me
Maybe I am what you say I am
maybe that's why I feel so hurt by what you say
For your words affect me more than the blades that have carved through my skin
Leave me be please stop hurting me with your cruelty
One thing I know for certain you don't deserve to be called what you are
You have lost that right with the pain you cause me
I hope you in time learn just what your words have cost you
It cost you a daughter
