"they- what?"
He sighed, burying his face in one hand.
"It seems that with news of your past relations with the LOV, the government has become interested in potentially using it to help eradicate them," he mutters, raising his face barely out of his hands to speak.
I can see the fine lines in his face that have newly formed. He must have fought hard against this.
"Sir Nighteye has alerted to a potential collaboration between the LOV and a yakuza group by the name of Shie Hassaikai," he added on, "my agency has always been one of information gathering and it's what we've be ordered to do."
He looked up at me with an unspoken sadness behind his eyes, one I could barely acknowledge before looking away.
"You'll be infiltrating in order to gather information from within while Tokoyami will be used as external reconnaissance," he scoffed. "The perfect team of underaged students."
He sighed and walked over to me, squatting down in front of me.
"I'm sorry dove, if I'd have know it'd go this far I would have never-" he hesitated, sighing as he hung his head.
'Never what? Told them about my past? He had to, he'd be prosecuted if he didn't. That could mean jail time or even execution.'
I looked down at the tired man before me.
"It's alright, you didn't have a choice."
Neither of us did.
Even if he was the great number 3 pro-hero, ultimately him and I were the same, just government lapdogs who would never escape the shackles that have been melded onto us.
All he could do, all he's been doing, is try to shield me from the brunt of it. Trying to keep me in the dark, keep me happy and alive while he works tirelessly for it.
He really was like a damn duck, calm on the surface but kicking his feet desperately to stay afloat. It can't be easy with me resting on him as extra weight.
It was time I took over that responsibility myself.
I'd shoulder the weight of my own shackles, and stand beside Keigo with, if nothing else, my dignity intact.
-
"Who knows?" I smile.
-
-
"Maybe I'll be a great undercover agent."

And that's exactly what we did.
For the rest of the days I had been requested I learned directly from Keigo.
I learned things like disguises, how to hide my handwriting, control my body language, and even change my accent.
I got pretty good at a neutral Tokyo accent so that my voice wouldn't stand out in a crowd.
One bonus is it made it easier for me to lie with too.
It felt less real, lying with an accent. Plus it disguised my usual bad habits and tells from my typical Kansai-leaning accent.
"Well, I'm off Hawks!" I called back as I was about the head out the door.
"I'll send you!" he grinned and I quirked a brow.
-
-
It was only when he scooped me and all of my baggage up that I realised what he meant.
-
"I THOUGHT YOU GOT A CAR YOU OVERSIZED TURKEY!!!!"
My words of protest blow away with the wind as we take off into the night sky.
Admittedly, flying with Hawks could sometimes be enjoyable, especially if he would give me a heads up beforehand.
But the wind blowing through my hair and the sparkling lights below us made it feel a bit more peaceful than the idea of flying hundreds of meters in the sky, relying on nothing but the arm strength of an overstuffed chicken to keep me airborne.
Speaking of overstuffed chickens, did you know that the stuffed chicken that Ryo owns, mentioned in previous chapters, was actually given to him by Hawks?! The more you know~
"Wait," I mumbled as I processed something in my head, "Do you fly all the way from our apartment to Kyushu and back every day?!"
Keigo glances down at me through his yellow-tinted goggles. "Yeah!"
"Then why did I take a train here?!" I grumbled and he averted his gaze.
"HAWKS!"
"Ahhh the wind is so loud, can't hear anything~"
"YOU PIECE OF-"

Sure enough, in less than a third of the time it took me to get to Kyushu by train, Keigo had me dropped off in front of the 1-A dorms.
"I'll see you soon turtledove," he smiled at me, taking a quick glance at the dorm behind me, "and... enjoy yourself."
And just like that he took off, truly embodying his moniker of the fastest pro-hero.
I scoff at his antics before turning around.
"Don't you think you two are being too obvious?"
"Katsuki!" I beam, jumping onto the blonde who had somehow been outside with us the whole time.
"OI! DON'T JUMP ON ME LIKE THAT!"
Despite his complaints he still caught and held onto me, belongings and all.
"Missed you too blasty!" I chuckle, scrambling off him.
Then I hear the door creak open and turn to see Candycane peeking his head through.
His face breaks into a soft smile.
"Welcome back."
I grin at the boy, hauling up my belongings.
As we walk through the halls, Shoto catches me up with what's been going on.
"And it seems the interns under Fatgum, Rykyu and Sir Nighteye have been working together for a certain assignment," he added lastly, piquing my interest.
'I wonder if it has to do with the LOV and Shie Hassaikai too?'
"What assignment?" I ask and Katsuki clicks his tongue.
"Assholes won't tell us, they say its confidential," he huffs.
'Poor Kats must be feeling a little left out...'
I look over to the Candycane boy on my left.
'Icyhot too...'
"How was your internship Ryo?" Shoto changed the topic, glancing back at me.
"Well, I-" I pause before forcing a smile on my face.
"Nothing much, just some patrols."
'I'm sorry guys... I have to keep you in the dark too...'
