Chapter 137: OBJECTION!!!

"N-Nice to meet you!" ugh, did Midoriya's voice always have to be so shrill?

Katsuki dug at his ears grumpily as the broccoli haired boy introduced himself to the winged hero.

Hawk's face lit up in a grin.

"I know you, you're the kid who broke your fingers!" Hawks mused, waving a hand.

"Ryo told me about-" he paused, expression faltering for just a second before he plastered a smile onto his face.

"It's good to meet you."

This had confirmed it for the boys, Hawks knew something.

"Hawks," Shoto called, stepping forward. Katsuki joined him.

"Oh, you two!" he grinned. "How have you been?"

"We'd like to speak with you," Shoto requested, keeping his voice low to prevent prying ears.

"Oh?" Hawks tilted his head.

His yellow eyes flicked to either side, as though sweeping the area before he spoke again.

"If this is about Ryo, unfortunately he isn't in an internship with me," he clasped his hands behind his head, leaning his head back.

His purposeful open body language seemed to say that he had nothing to hide.

His caution, however, betrayed this sentiment.

"I've been too busy to take on any interns, you see."

Katsuki scoffed, stepping closer.

"I call bullshit," he accused to which Hawks shrugged.

"You sent Birdbrain official notice when you ended his internship, but Bumpkin didn't get one."

Hawks paused.

The boy's reasoning was sound, but it wasn't enough.

'Unfortunately, I think Ryo would kill me if I got them involved...'

"By Birdbrain, you mean Tsukuyomi?" Hawk's laughed in amusement, taking the two boys aback.

"Is that where Ryo got that insult from...?" he muttered under his breath, barely escaping the pair's ears.

"Well regardless, there are no interns under my agency right now, you're more than welcome to check with the hero commission," he offered with a smile.

"You-!" but Katsuki was cut off as Endeavor came back into frame. He'd just finished handing the villain over to the police.

"So, what did you want, Hawks?" the flame hero asked.

Hawks shook his head, "Nothing much, but Endeavor..."

He fished around the left pocket of his cargo pants, retrieving a book with a blood-red cover.

"Have you heard about this book?" he asked, holding it up.

The cover read 'Meta Liberation War'.

"What about it?" the man of few words asked ever so eloquently.

"Well, y'know, it's gotten really popular recently!" Hawks mused.

"It's from a long time ago but it has predictions about the present," he explained, flipping through pages of the book.

"'If you give freedom to a limited number of people, then the negative consequences will go to the others,' so it says."
