(Chapter 137)

"With your high audience approval rating, you'll do wonders at converting people to our side," I spoke with as much vigor as I could.

I met Hawk's eyes.

"Keep up the good work, Hawks."

He smiled and nodded.

"Will do, Lieutenant Nora."

With that, Hawks had been dismissed.

This had to be the third or so time he'd come in for regular updates before the PLF lieutenants and I still hadn't gotten used to it.

He was the one reminder here of my life as Ryo, a normal student - or at least a student trying to be normal. So for even him to call me 'Nora'...

It never ceased to make me feel ill.

After the door had shut, a few of the lieutenants started to speak amongst themselves.

I myself had begun to pack my things when I noticed a crack in the door.

It was slight, so slight most people wouldn't notice it let alone find it suspicious.

It was so small that almost nothing could get through.

Well, except for one thing.

Something I was very familiar with.

A feather.

"So, has Shigaraki left already?" I spoke while arranging my documents, trying to appear nonchalant.

"I think so?" Spinner scratched at his head.

Twice sighed, "That guy, it wouldn't hurt to say goodbye to us." "I don't want him to!"

"Tomura's excited to get stronger," Toga grinned, fiddling with a vial of blood.

'I don't wanna know which poor soul she got that out of...'

"Yes, just think," Re-Destro sounded like a reverent priest, "in four short month, everything we have worked towards will come true!"

I nod, forcing a smile on my face.

"I can't wait."

Flicking my eyes to the door, I notice a small shadow zip across from behind the door.

'Hope you got all that, Hawks.'

"What about you, Nora?" Dabi's voice forces me to meet his eyes.

"What?" I quirk a brow.

'What is this man getting at...?'

"The doctor seemed real interested in meeting you after you... recover," he smiled.

It sent a chill down my spine.

I'd been using the excuse that I had been unwell since the Deika incident to avoid that tiny creep, but I suppose I couldn't put it off much longer.

"Right..." I bite back a sigh, getting to my feet. "I'll find a time to meet with him."

(Chapter 155)

I hadn't seen the Doctor around for the week following that.

It seemed that putting Shigaraki under took a lot longer than I thought it did.

In that week, I did my best to attend every lieutenant strategy meeting.

Most of the lieutenants hardly gave a damn, which gave me good cover as being the representative of the Guerilla Warfare division, Violet. This was especially since my co-commanders, Dabi and an ice quirk user by the name of Geten, seemed less than interested with all the army's politics.

I needed to make sure I had all the information at  the ready whenever I had the chance to leak it to Hawks.

I was at one such meeting now with Mr. Compress, Spinner and a few other lieutenants.

I scratched at my neck.

I wasn't used to having my hair so short.

A knock came at the door.

A Carmine member came in and bowed.

"Lieutenant Nora, the Doctor is looking for you," he said simply before being dismissed.

I get to my feet and bid goodbye to the other lieutenants.

As I stepped out the door, my brain began to churn.

It was odd that a Carmine member had come to get me, wouldn't it be more logical to call someone from Violet.

Or was it because he didn't want anyone under my jurisdiction to know?

On my way to the Doctor's office, I found myself hoping I'd run into Hawks, that somehow I'd be able to let him know where I was headed in case it meant the end of me.

But alas, I arrived before the door to his office without crossing anyone's path at all.

I knock and the door opens by itself.

"Come in," the voice made bile rise to my throat.

Stepping into the room lit overhead by fluorescent lights and filled with beeping white machinery, my head began to spin.

My breathing hitched and picked up.

It felt like my body wasn't mine.

In fact this reaction, it felt innate, ingrained into my body.

'What did the man... do to me in the past...?'

My mind couldn't remember, but my body did.

I force my breathing, glaring at the man who smiled at me from his desk chair.

"Come Nora, sit," he gestured at a chair across from his.

I took a seat, the white recliner felt an awful lot like a dentist's chair.

It was then that I noticed Shigaraki lying motionless on a hospital bed in the corner of the room.

"Don't mind him," the Doctor said, seemingly catching what I'd been staring at, "he'll be transferred to my hospital for his incubation later today."

The smile under that bristle brush moustache made my skin crawl.

"So why were you looking for me?" I shuffled uncomfortably in the seat.

"You're a lot more talkative now," the Doctor's response made me deathly still, "you used to not say anything to me at all."

I remained silent.

'Did he... notice...?'

Everyone had been responding just fine to the way I'd been acting. I had assumed that, being a past version of me, 'Nora' would respond just how I would.

It seemed that had been a mistake.

"You cut your hair," the change in topic was honestly a relief.

I reached a hand up to my head unconsciously.

"Yeah, it was getting in the way," I kept my response brief.

In truth, with everything that had happened in the Deika incident, the ends of my hair had been stained in ugly shades of red and brown.

The cons of having white hair, I guess.

But the remnants of people that had died around me being physically left on my person, the idea made me sick.

So I took the scissors to my hair.

The doctor hummed at my response.

"A pity, you don't resemble him as much anymore."

I perk up.

'Him?'

"You know who I'm talking about of course," he smiled.

"Yoichi Shigaraki."
