Chapter 128: pure as the driven snow

That evening was the first snowfall of the year.

I follow a shirtless and laughing Kirishima as he bounds into the piles of freshly fallen snow.

I suck in a deep breath, the winter air crisp and refreshing as it fills my lungs.

Shoving my icy fingers into my pants pocket, I look up at the sky as it rains delicate crystalline flakes down upon the earth.

'Shoto and Katsuki should be at their last supplementary lesson right about now...'

After today, they'd finally have their hero license.

All of 1-A would.

I snicker, looking down at my feet and kicking a small snow drift, watching it crumble easily into power.

"About time..."

Little did anyone know that the newly licensed heroes would be putting their two and a half hour old licenses to good use.

With a giant wall of ice, Shoto stopped the gang of villains that had been riding on a giant wave through the streets of the city,

It seemed to be their MO for robbing the unlucky civilians that happened to be in their path, picking up handbags and briefcases as they went around.

After Shoto stopped the villains, Katsuki blasted them to hell and back by exploding all of the ice Shoto had set up.

They flew backwards, only to get trapped in another mound of ice made by Shoto.

The presumed boss of the group and creator of that giant wave glared at the pair.

"What's with you two, pretending to be grown-up pros huh?" he spat.

"Hand over the things you stole," Shoto ordered, using a wave of his hands to cover the boss in a layer of ice.

"What are you, a damned cop?!" the boss seethed.

In spite of his restraints, the villain struggled, eventually shattering the ice around him.

"We worked too hard, mapping out hero patrol patterns so we can get the end of year loot!"

"A couple ice cubes ain't gonna stop me!" he yelled, charging at the boys as a jet of water beneath his feet propelled him forward.

"GET A REAL JOB!" Katsuki yelled.

"Too bad you happened to cross our path," Shoto followed up with an arguably cooler line.

The villain continued his monologue, talking a lot of big game about how he wasn't above schooling a few brats...

Only to turn tail and try to run, his lackies trailing behind him.

Unfortunately for them, they get knocked out one by one by Katsuki's explosions, leaving only the leader.

Backed into a corner, the leader activates his quirk and uses his supporting gauntlets to increase the strength of his water streams.

However, the strength proves too powerful for even himself to handle and the jets of water start to spray around haphazardly.

In a feat of impeccable timing, a lady sneaks past the barricade that All Might is trying desperately to set up to keep the public safe.

A street light gets cut in half by a stray jet of water and threatens to fall on the lady.

All Might leaps to cover her but they're still in harms way.

In an unusually heroic feat, Katsuki flies in and blasts the danger away, turning back to yell at the reckless bystander.
