These past couple of weeks haven't been the easiest. We've started going back to work at the office every couple of days or so. And we get those damn looks from most of our coworkers almost every time we come across any of them in the hallways. They don't say anything, but at the same time, they say everything.
Most of them aren't mean looks, or at least that's the perception I get. They're just curious about the pictures and stuff they've seen in social media, which is understandable. But it doesn't make it less uncomfortable.
Speaking of social media, it isn't getting any better either. I'm starting to actually not like this one bit.
It all reminds me more and more of my time at Blackpool each day that passes. And I'm scared it will end up the same way, with me having to leave. Because, this time, I don't want to leave. I don't want a situation like this to overwhelm me so much again. To the point I had to take the first offer I had to leave, because it was all too much.
The good news is that Niall is obviously by my side this time, and so is Bill. They are the only people that could potentially fire me in the near future, so I'm not worried in that regard.
That's why my biggest worry is not being able to handle this mentally myself.
Today, Niall and I arrived at the office together, as usual. Everyone here knows about us anyway, so we see no point in trying to hide anything by entering the place separately.
If it had been a normal season, we would all be on holiday by now. However, as the pandemic happened, the season will last until the end of July, which means we'll keep going to the office until then, even if it keeps being just every two days or so because of the Covid restrictions.
At least we've been doing very well at the matches, which is a relief among all the stress of everything that's happening outside the field.
Niall and I walked to our office directly after we arrived at Everton's headquarters, not wanting to draw much attention to ourselves.
The morning started as it usually would. When we noticed, by the time it was, that there were just around 30 minutes left of the training session, we went there, to watch the boys for a bit, and talk to Zayn about how he's seeing things.
Everyone in the team seems happy to be here, which is great news. The players also told us that they were happy to see Niall and I, as always. Niall says that it's because it's motivating for a football player to know that the directives like what they're seeing.
I always try to let the players and coaches know when I like something about what they're doing, so it's good to know that it actually lifts their spirits up.
Once the training session was over, Niall and I were about to head back inside, when I heard a "Greeny!" Coming from behind.
