The last few days have been insane. In the best way.
The environment in the club and the fans in the city has been full of excitement and celebration. What we've done this season is historic, and the streets know that.
We've also noticed how pleased everyone is on social media. That Twitter account that spends their time talking shit about Niall and I has lost attention, as most Everton fans are changing their minds and defending us. Most of the posts now say that, who cares about us being together, if the club is going so well. An opinion I strongly agree with, and I'm happy is finally being expressed.
Today is the last day Niall and I have to go to work, before two weeks of holidays, that we're really looking forward to.
We woke up together, as usual, and went to make breakfast in the kitchen. While we were doing so, I decided to check twitter on my phone, to see if there was anything interesting. And oh, my.
I couldn't help but let out a scoff when one of Blackpool's recent posts showed up in my 'for you' page.
Niall noticed my laugh and looked up, from the breakfast preparation, at me. "What is it?"
I showed him my screen, and he laughed in disbelief as well. "The nerve." He shook his head.
Because it was a photo of me and Zayn from the other day at the Everton match, and another one of us back at Blackpool. The post said "Congratulations to Victoria Greenwood and Zayn Malik, who were our sports director and coach last season, for being crucial in @Evertonfc 's qualification for the @EuropaLeague next season. We're so proud of once having been your home."
"Our home, it says. I wonder whose idea that was." I chuckled. "Home sweet home." I joked.
"No idea, but it's ridiculous." He laughed again. "If only people knew the hellhole that club is."
So, for the rest of breakfast and on our way to the offices, our conversation revolved around that tweet. It was in fact ridiculous, but I obviously didn't express my thoughts publicly.
Once we were there, Niall and I walked to our own office, and started working on the transfer window, like we've been doing the last few days, as we want to leave it advanced before going on holiday.
The players and coaches are already on holidays, so in order to talk to Zayn about Blackpool's tweet and have a laugh with him about it, I had to call him. He also had seen it, and found it unbelievable but very funny.
Emma also texted me to congratulate me for the win the other day. I texted back thanking her, even if I'm not used to having a cordial contact with her yet.
After working during the morning, we had lunch with some of our coworkers, the ones that were still here before their holidays, in the dining room, to say our goodbyes before leaving for two weeks ourselves. Some others are already on holidays for a bit, and others will leave later on, so the club is still taken care of in our absence.
