*Melody's POV*
Today in school the really big kids are coming to read to us. I'm scared, what if no one likes me, what if they laugh or make fun if me? What if I won't be pick me? I nervously bit my lip, thinking of them.
"Hey Melody," Danny said as he sat next to me. "Hi Danny. Are you scared?" I asked, nervous. "Why? I'm brave. Big kids don't scare me. Are you?" I wanted to say no, but lying is bad. "Yeah, what if they make fun of me or they don't like me or if they don't want to read to me?" I ranted to my best friend. "They'll love you! If they don't, I'll make sure they will Melody Anastasia." He said confident. I smiled, "Thanks Danny, I don't know what I'll do without you." I smiled. "Well class we have the treat of high schoolers coming and reading to all of you today! You'll all get to pick a partner with one of the high schoolers. They'll be coming during story time of course." Ms. Shepard announced to all of us. I pulled my bottom lip into my mouth, that isn't that much long time until then.
"Until then we'll be learning our numbers!" She added and handed out papers with the numbers one through five on big lined paper. "Everyone hold their pencils correctly!" She reminded us as she went up to the white board. "We're going to start with number one." She stated and explained how to make it. One and two were really easily. Three was weird, but Ms. Shepard came over to me and told me it was a sideways 'm' and that made it a lot easier for me. Four was hard, I didn't understand how until I watched Danny make one of his on the paper. I copied his movements and I got it. Five was simple, I make 5's all of time. Daddy's band has a five in it and a season, summer! We had to make the numbers five times on our paper, and I got better each time, especially with my fours. "Much improvement you three." Our teacher commented to Danny, Vince, and me. I nodded and shyly smiled, out of the corner of my eye I watched the door for any people to come in the class. When they will come in though, I want to have Spidey with me. I won't be so alone or nervous then.
I grabbed Ms. Shepard's hand, and she bent down to my height. "Yes Melody?" She asked, wondering what I wanted. "C-Can I have S-spidey when big kids come?" I stuttered, afraid that she will say no to me. I just wanted him for comfort. "As long as he doesn't become a distraction, yes." I nodded to her explanation. "I won't. Want him for comfort." I said back and she smiled, "Okay, good. Keep it that way." She added on to her previous statement. "I will. No distracting." I confirmed to her. She nodded and went back to walking around the room.
"Such a baby," I heard Hannah snapped to her friends. I coward myself and put my head on my arms above the table. Danny must have heard it too. "Stop being mean Hannah!" He declared at her. Then he turned back to me. "Don't listen to her, Melody. She is just jealous because you're nice, unlike her." I smiled up at him. "Thanks Danny, but you're much nicer than me." I cheeky said. He smiled and a little pink came to his cheeks. "Ooohhh, Melody likes Danny!" Grace exclaimed and pointed at us. I buried my face in my arms again, and tried to ignore the teasing from the class. "Children! That's enough!" Ms. Shepard declared loudly. That brought the teasing to a silent room.
"Now the high school students will be coming here very shortly. I want all of you on your best behavior." She announced to all of us. Ms. Shepard then walked to Grace and Hannah, I could tell they were in trouble and were going into a time out. "Melody," I turned around in my seat. "Yes Ms. Shepard?" I asked. "You can get your Spider-man now." She told me. I smiled and went to my backpack, unzipped the compartment, and grabbed Spidey and zipped it back up. I sat back in my seat, watching the door carefully, still nervous.
They finally appeared at the doorway. They all were a lot taller than me. One of them reminded me of my uncles and Daddy. He wore all black and his hair was a black as coal with tips of dark red. I really wish Jaycee
didn't pick out my stupid pink outfit today. I wish I was wearing my black military-like jacket and black jeans or even leggings and my 5SOS band tee, instead of a an idiotic pink shirt with white polka-dots and stupid and ugly pink skirt. I feel stupid. This isn't me at all.
