Melody was required to stay in the hospital for two more days for lab draws and to observe activity with and without Michael or her uncles. "Hey little one," the three other members of 5 Seconds of Summer came into the door.
Luke was the one that greeted her. "I grabbed someone for you." He mentioned and sat down next to the bed. Melody sat up and looked at with eager eyes. "Well close your eyes, it isn't a surprise if you know who it is." He remarked. Melody obeyed and closed her eyes. Luke brought out one of her stuffed animals into her lap and made a similar noise that an owl would make. Melody opened her eyes and hugged the stuffed owl, "It's Thomas!" She exclaimed. "Yeah, I thought you might want him when you're going to be staying here." Luke remember.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Owen. I will be taking care of Melody while she stays here. The nurses will mainly be a secondary with her." A doctor with blonde hair that was similar in a bowl cut. He was pudgy and on the shorter side. "We'll be giving her lab draws from her tomorrow, so we can test if she really does have separation anxiety and see what we could do to help her with it. It can go from mild therapy to serious enough to have medication. Also, if she needs medication, we could see how high or low of a dosage she needs and maybe how many times a day." Owen explained. Michael nodded along with him.
"Alright, the nurses will take her blood pressure twice a day at least, when you guys are in here and when you aren't. It'll help see if she is more stressed or not when family isn't around." Dr. Owen explained. "Is there any questions?" No one had any. Dr. Owen left then.
"It's going to be okay, baby girl." Michael kissed her forehead.
*Next Day*
Her labs will be drawn at noon. The nurses got the first blood pressure in the morning.
"Hey sweetie, did you sleep well?" Her main nurse, Krista asked. Melody nodded, still a little sleepy. "Still tired?" The nurse lightly chuckled. Melody nodded again and hugged Thomas. "You want to eat before we do this?" Krista asked, putting some of her light brown hair back. "Yes pwease," Melody answered. "The cooks are making blueberry pancakes, does that sound good?" Melody nodded with a smile. "Anything special to drink?" She questioned. "Chocolate milk." Melody answered. "Alright, remember if you need anything, just press the red button.
About twenty minutes later, Melody got her food and after she ate it Krista grabbed the children's blood pressure cuff and wrapped it around her upper arm. "I'm going to start now." Krista warned before the cuff got tighter on Melody. With her hands, Melody gripped onto her stuffed owl. Her grip loosened as the cuff began to loosen as well. Krista wrote down her blood pressure, which was a little higher than it should be. "You did very good." Krista praised and unwrapped the cuff. "Do you know when Daddy is going to be here?" Melody asked and laid back down in the bed. "I'm not sure, but I bet he'll be here as soon as he can." She told the little girl. "Alright." She replied.
Michael came to the hospital around 11:50. He needed to be when his little girl was going to get blood taken from her. He knew he would help calm her down. No one else really would. "Melody Clifford." He calmly spoke and signed in and went to Melody's room where she was making Thomas fly around in a circle that went as far as her arms could. "Hey little one," Michael remarked and sat down next to her bed. "Hi Daddy!" Melody smiled brightly. "Thomas liked to fly." She commented. "Does Thomas like being here?" Michael questioned. Melody shrugged, "He thinks it's okay. I like it."
Dr. Owen came into the room with a smile. "How's Melody doing?" The doctor asked. "Good." Melody shyly answered. "That's wonderful. We're going to take a small amount of blood and do some other things today." Dr. Owen gently explained. He took the stethoscope from his neck and put the ends in his ears while he put it on Melody's chest. "Very good," he mentioned. "Okay, Melody, I want you to breath like you're going to out birthday candles." Melody nodded. Dr. Owen put the stethoscope on Melody's back and listened. "Beautiful." He commented and removed the stethoscope and put it back around his neck.
Dr. Owen pulled out a butterfly needle and tube that connected to a tube like container. Then grabbed a spare pillow from thr side and put it on Melody's lap. Melody laid her left arm on it. "Alright Melody, I want you to make a fist for me." Melody obeyed. "Okay, you're going to feel a little pinch. I want you to be brave for me." The doctor continued to use his gentle voice. Melody nodded. Michael brought his hand over to Melody's right hand. Melody took a hold of it as the doctor took blood from Melody.
"That's it. We're all done now." Dr. Owen smiled and taped gause on the inner elbow. "You did excellent, Melody." Dr. Owen praised and turned to Michael. "We'll get the results somewhere between half hour to two hours." He told him before leaving the room.
"Copeland will be coming over later." Michael smiled. "Really?" Melody brightly smiled and sat up. "Yeah, Kellin said they'll be visiting." Michael answered. Melody giggled with excitement.
*Skip Half Hour*
Copeland hesitated as they got to Melody's room. She'd never been in a hospital before. She just knew there was nothing good about being in the hospital. Kellin stopped and got to Copeland's height just before they got to Melody's room. "Copeland, I want you to understand that Melody isn't sick or is in any danger okay?" Copeland nodded. "She isn't any different from before. I want you to treat her like nothing is wrong." Kellin told her gently. "Okay Daddy." Copeland replied. "Good girl," Kellin smiled and kissed her forehead. "Alright, let's go in there." Kellin lead Copeland into the room.
Copeland hesitated as she saw Melody in the hospital gown, but she knew that there was nothing wrong with her. Kellin carried a bag that was full of the stuffed animals that they gotten at the London hotel. Kellin brought Copeland up on the hospital bed. The girls played after Kellin poured out the animals.
"How is she?" Kellin asked Michael. "We'll be the the results around a hour and half." Michael replied.
"Bell love Thomas." Copeland smiled and had the lamb lay beside the owl. "Kylie loves Crush." Melody brought the blue turtle next to the lime green turtle. "What about Alec?" Melody thought about it. "Alec is their child." She giggled.
The other guys came an hour later. "How you doing, munchin?" Luke asked and pinched Melody's cheek. She snarled at him and slapped his hand away. It was about a half hour after the guys came, did Krista come in the room. "Okay Melody, we're going to do what we did this morning." She said and grabbed the cuff. "Okay," she said. Melody grabbed Spidey and squeezed him as the cuff did. "All done." She remarked and took the cuff off and wrote the result, which was perfect.
"Hey, um, do you know when we'll get the results for her?" Michael asked. "We have the results, but Dr. Owen needs to come around and say what to do and anything special." Krista explained. "Do you know if Melody can leave anytime soon or not?" Michael questioned. "I'm annoy ninety percent that she'll be able to leave today." She answered.
Dr. Owen walked into the room with a clipboard. "I have both type of news today. Good and bad." He announced. All of the eyes, other than two pairs that were owned by the girls, were on the doctor. "Melody has a small amount of separation anxiety, that is the good news. The bad, is that she will has a good sixty-five percentage of having anxiety in the future."
Michael got tense on the inside, he hated thinking that he's baby girl could get what he has. It was terror to him. She couldn't. She's too happy for that life. No. Melody couldn't. Michael convinced himself. There was not any possible way for Melody to get anxiety.
