*Next Day*
"Melody, I got a video for you. I waited for them to leave. It's...it's from your mum. She wanted to have you watch this when you were old enough." Michael said and put it in her lap. "She, in, kinda wanted you to watch it by yourself." He said then gave her a laptop.
Melody put her headphones in her ears before putting in the DVD. Then, the picture of her mom popped up on the computer with a play button in the middle of it. Melody made it full screen and pressed the play button.
"Hi Melody, well if your dad hadn't told you, I'm your mom. Well, today we went to the doctor's and got some news." Then on the bottom of her hazel eyes had formed water. "It actually wasn't the greatest news either." Haylie huffed and wiped her eyes. "Ah, shit...The news was that there will be complications during the birth and that even if we do a C-section and the chance is very high chance that one of us will not survive. I told the doctor that I want you to survive. Your dad is in complete denial of the bad outcome. So, I'm going to tell you about me." She brushed some of her brown hair from her face.
"I was born and raised in America with divorced parents and lived in a tiny town, called Warren, Illinois. I met your dad in London. Where I worked at a CD and vinyl shop then later a teacher. Eventually, your dad and I lived together there, and um, I had a miscarriage there too. Your dad was on tour and I guess the baby didn't like that. It was a boy, I named him Eliot James." She was crying now. "Oh fuck," she paused and wiped her eyes. "So you did have an older brother, Melody. Anyway, eventually your father and I moved to Sydney. With the new atmosphere around us, it brought a different light to us." She explained, a light smile then appeared on her face.
"A little year later, we found out you were coming to our little world. Well, um, I'm going to tell you a bit about you being in my stomach. You love it when your dad sings, especially to acoustic versions of songs like some All Time Low and My Chemical Romance. When I drive and play songs from Jersey Boys you get excited and attempt to kick the steering wheel from inside me." She chuckled.
"Yeah, you like music. Let's see, you like it when I eat Chinese food and have a chocolate shake. Oddest combo ever, but that's what I eat with you in my stomach. You like it when you and I only talk to each other. I rest my hands on my stomach and talk to you and you move and kick me in like a more calming way. When the movie Toy Story 2 is on, you have a similar reaction to me. You hate the sound of a dog barking because you stay very still." Haylie explained.
She took a big breath. "When you are born, I hope to God that your father will get over me. I hope you grow up with love. I slightly hopes he gives up the band when it comes to a terrible point, that I hope you will never reach, for you. I hope he does. Michael loves that band more than he does me, I hope he makes the right choose when that time might come." Haylie mentioned and Melody looked down, knowing that wrong time did really happen.
"Haylie, I'm home!" Michael called somewhere in background. "I have to go, you're dad is in total denial about this. I love you. I'll quote Pierce the Veil, 'I love you and I'll never leaveyour side.'"
The video ended.
Melody was surprised her dad showed her this, and the little amount her mum told her. She wondered what was still under the rug.
