The three boys were silent as they wait for a chance to see their friend. "I say we pull that one move from If I Stay." Vince mentioned. Both of the other boys looked at the boy like he was crazy. "My sister made me watch it." He replied and crossed his arms. The others sat back, Ryan rolling his eyes. "What did they do in the movie?" Ryan asked. "They made a distraction and the guy ran into the room." Vince replied. "I think we could do it. I'll distract the nurse or whoever." Ryan answered, "But I don't want to do it when Melody's family is in there." He added. The other boys agreed with their friend and said they would do it after visiting hours were over.
"How much longer," Vince asked after so long. "Two hours," Danny said, looking at the clock. "Could we get food?" Ryan questioned. "Really, our friend is in a coma and you're thinking about food?" Danny snapped. "Yes, now will you chill your balls? I'm not in the mood to deal with your shit. I know that Melody is in a coma, don't you think that I don't care! Food just calms me down and I don't want to burst into tears when I see her laying there still as a rock and maybe, probably not hear us!" Ryan snapped right back into Danny's face and walked away from him. "Ryan!" Vince called, but Ryan flipped them off without even looking at them and kept walking. "Nice going," Vince grumbled to Danny.
Ryan stayed in the hospital cafeteria until the two hours were pasted. He walked to the elevator and pressed the up button. Inside the elevator and pressed the level five. He managed to get to the room, amazing enough the nursing station was empty. He walked into the room that was silent other than a breathing machine and a beeping monitor. Ryan took a deep breath. He was only in a hospital room a few times, so it was odd. Ryan walked to the chair. He took a minute or more to just look at Melody's condition. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I'm your big brother, I should've help you. Anything just to make sure you aren't in the position you're in right now. I hope this isn't weird." He softly held the practically limp hand. "So cold," he commented.
"I, uh, started writing you a letter." He pulled out a many times folded paper from his front jean pocket. "This is kind of weird, but this letter isn't really funny or sarcastic at all . That's odd coming from me, isn't it?" He finished and unfolded the piece of paper. "Death of a soul is like a peaceful fire to turn into only ashes and smoke. If your peaceful fire shall end, I shall never forget that burn in the brightest of light and thunderous of storms. I hope that Death greets you like an old, welcoming friend like I would if I was Death. If I could, I'd lead you myself to Death hallows. I wish you to be strong enough to not see any darkness or light and to wake to have your fire continue to burn once more. Melody, I wish you to stay strong, if you can hear me, I want you to know that I believe that you can wake up. Please wake. I would anything that you want when you wake. Melody, I couldn't be the same way now or how I've ever been if you die." Ryan softly read and spoke to her. "Stay strong for me, for everyone. I know you can do it. I know you can." He encouraged. "If I could do anything to help. I would, even if that meant having something shoved up my dick!" He told her with a serious joke. "God, just make out of this alive." He whispered.
Ryan pushed some of her hair out of her face. "You're so fucking cold, Melody. Again, I hope this isn't weird." He mentioned and got in the bed next to her. "Those blankets don't seem to help. Maybe I will." He wrapped his arms around her, not moving her much and put his cheek on the top of her head. He closed his eyes peacefully and didn't realize he'd fallen asleep.
*Morning*
A shake, not a very hard one, but strong enough to wake up Ryan. He groaned and stretched out and then curled back into the position he was in beforehand. Another shake. "Patrica, go away," Ryan complained, thinking he was at home and his little sister was waking him. "This isn't Patrica, Ryan," a male voice whispered into his ear. That snapped Ryan fully awake, "Shit," he whispered and got off the bed quickly like someone had told him that there was another man that wanted things from him, that would come unwilling from Ryan.
He stood and noticed it was Mr. Clifford. "Hey, uh, sorry I-I didn't mean to fall asleep, it just happened and, uh, M-Melody was c-cold and so I cuddled her, that's it! I swear!" Ryan stuttered and quickly spoke, obviously nervous as he would scratch his head and neck. Michael put his hand on Ryan's shoulder, Ryan closed his eyes tightly, "It's fine Ryan, I told the nurses that you were one of her biological cousins. I don't care. I gave clearance for you, Danny, and Vince." Michael explained to him. Ryan opened his eyes and smiled brightly. "Thank you, so much," Unexpectedly, Ryan hugged Michael. "Thank you, thank you so much, I don't know how to thank you!" Ryan exclaimed. Michael patted his head. "It's okay, I was waiting for one of you guys to sneak in here to see her. I just thought it would have been Danny before it was you. Or it would've been all of you when you snuck in here. I was thinking you of you guys. You helped keep Melody happy when I couldn't have. I thank you for doing that." Michael smiled at him and Ryan released him from the hug. "I think I'll go now. Thank you for letting us coming in here to see her." Ryan smiled before leaving. "Crazy kid," Michael whispered and shook his head.
