* Melody's POV *
"You'll be great, they're probably out there. No need to be nervous at all." I told myself. "You'll be fine, hopefully and-"
"Hey, you okay?" I jumped at the sudden voice I turned my head to see Danny. "Oh, um, just nervous I guess. I have no idea if my family is here." I spoke, nervous filling my voice. "You'll be wonderful, MJ. Every time you get on the stage, you act like you're free to be whatever it is. You know, not looking at the audience helps, and before hand talking about something helps." He explained. I softly smiled, "Thanks Danny, but can I have a good luck kiss?" He took a seat beside me. "Anything for my beautiful and stunning girlfriend." He kissed me, a little harder than normal, but it felt perfect. "Kiss me like that more often." I whispered. "No problem, but I have to run back to my dressing room before Mr. Jacobs comes and yells at us." Danny chuckled and left.
I looked in the mirror and for once in a long time had a bright smile.
*Skip Ten Minutes*
I did what Danny said not look at the audience. I didn't do it once.
I was just starting "Sandra Dee" when I heard doors bang open and close. I wanted to look so badly, knowing it was probably my dad. "This goody two-shoes makes me want to barf." I put the blonde wig on.
"Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee, Lousy with virginity, Won't go to bed till I'm legally wed, I can't! I'm Sandra Dee! Watch it, hey I'm Doris Day
I was not brought up that way.
Won't come across, even
Rock Hudson lost
His heart to Doris Day.
I don't drink (no!) Or swear (oh!)
I don't rat my hair (ew!)
I get ill from one cigarette (cough, cough, cough) Keep your filthy paws
Off my silky drawers
As for you Troy Donahue
I know what you wanna do,
You've got your crust I'm no object of lust. I'm just plain Sandra Dee.
Elvis! Elvis let me be!
Keep that pelvis far from me!
Just keep your cool,
Now you're starting to drool.
Hey fongool, I'm Sandra Dee." I sang with humor and sass.
The girl that played Sandy came out of the "bathroom" and said her line. "Are you making fun of me Rizz?" She innocently asked. "Some people are so touchy." I snapped. Then, Pottsy called, "Oh Sandy, wherefore art thou, Sandy!" The other girls ran to the window before I went over, "Move over, I'm going to get my kicks while I still can." I snapped and climbed down the thing. "Hey Kinicky, you got a lot to offer a girl." I "flirted" before we "drove off" without the other guys.
Anyway the school decided to skip the whole part where Rizzel was pregnant because it was 'not innocent'. I took a peek out of the curtain as Sandy was singing devoted to you. I looked all around. My heart sank, no Dad or even a single uncle. I couldn't sworn one of them was the one that slapped the doors, wanting to be seen as they entered, but then again, someone's baby stopped crying after that. I sighed and got away from the curtain, great. I really wanted to run off and cry, but I held and hid it all inside.
Next thing I know, it's the Hand Jive or whatever it's called happened. Which, I'm surprise I didn't fall on my ass. Then, the outside movie theater, which was, I think, pointless because, other than Danny playing as Danny singing, was stupid. My next big scene, Worse things I could Do.
"There are worse things I could do
Than go with a boy or two
Even though the neighborhood thinks I'm trashy And no good I suppose it could be true But there are worse things I could do."
I started having my sass and disappointment in this song right here. I swayed my hips just like Mr. Jacobs had told me as I practiced. Other than Sandra Dee, this was definitely my favorite part, the song is somewhat relatable to me.
