bang_the_drums and Serena_FF both requested this. I had thought about bringing back Brett (High School Reading ch.) somehow, so this is what I came up with. I think about a SWS and Copeland reunion sometimes, let me know if that's a yay or nay. A part of London Coffee, the prequel, is at the end.
It was relaxing house and Melody saw the small park right across the street. She took her chances and walked over to it. Melody took a seat on one of the benches and watched the little children play. She watched a girl little girl, in particular, that played tag with some of the boys. She managed to fall into a flash back.
"Nanana! Melody can't catch me!" Ryan chanted amd laughed at the four year old girl. Melody raced after the little ginger. "Gotcha!" Melody exclaimed as she tackled him on the mulch. "Let me go!" Ryan whined as he tried to move his arms under her small hands. "Nope. You're my friend, so I can't let you go." She giggled. Ryan huffed and his body relaxed under her. "Fine, I'll just wait for lover boy Danny to come by and you'll let me go." He said. "Nope, not even then. You're my friend, I'm not letting you go." She stated strongly for a four year old. "Meellooddyyy! Pleeeaasssee!" Ryan whined. "You're so silly." Melody laughed. He grunted and Melody had an idea. "Tickle monster!" Melody exclaimed and tickled his sides. "Melody no, please! I'm you're friend! Please no," Ryan begged wiggling under her. "Mel! Quit!" She did, not because of him telling her how to quit, but the mixture of his serious voice and him calling her Mel. "Don't call me that." Melody spoke sadly and crossed her arms, getting off of him. "Melody, wait, what did I do?" Ryan called as she headed to the swings. "You called me that ugly name! I hate Mel. Hannah calls me that, because she says it's ugly like me and it sounds like a boy's name because I don't look like a boy." Melody explained with her hazel eyes being close to tears. "I'm sorry." Ryan said with his head down. "You should be!" Melody cried.
"Now Ms. Melody, no reason to get upset." The voice was in the flashback and real life like when your alarm clock in the morning. The sixteen year old blinked out of her day dream and back into reality and felt and wiped . Melody turned her head to see a man, who had to be in his late twenties, early thirties with coal black hair. He wore a long sleeve shirt with dark jeans. "Do I know you?" She asked like he was crazy. "Brett," he re-introduced himself from all of those years ago. Melody shook her head, "Not ringing any bells." He hesitated, but rolled his sleeves up a bit, to show his scars. "Hurt marks, no one likes them. A pretty girl should never have them. They stay forever and that's why you never get them." He re-said some of the things he said from when he was around Melody's age. She rose her eyebrows, "Dude, you're creeping me out. I don't know you." Melody talked back. "I was your reading partner when you were in preschool." Brett explained. Melody eyes had a glint at the remembrance of him. "What are you up to?" Melody inquired. "My little angel," Brett pointed to the girl that was playing with the boys with the black hair. "She's three, starting preschool soon. I don't know who will cry more my wife or me." He informed her and lightly chuckled. "What about you?" He asked. "A lot of shit." She answered with a sigh and a scatch of her neck. "Like as in I kicked myself out if my house because I want my dad to get that I'm sick of him missing my stuff like my play and him hating me because I can't stand being a perfect fucking daughter! I'm not a kid anymore. I'm not going to cherish every second I get of him. I hate him and I told him that. I don't care anymore, just like he acts." Melody ranted. Brett sighed and looked back his daughter. "I'm sure he does. He's just busy and can't find time." Brett took Michael's side. "Bullshit, when I came from the play, he was home with the rest of the perfect family. He doesn't care." Melody saddened as she finished. "I bet it'll all turn out one day." He gently said, not knowing what to say exactly. "Doubt it." Melody mumbled.
*London Coffee--Part of the chapter "Fights."
"Michael, shut your fucking mouth! And if you don't I'll give you a fucking knuckle sandwich!" She yelled. "First time you ever made something in this house." Michael exclaimed back. "Oh, coming from, 'I do everything in this house' bullshit! You're on that stupid, idiotic road all the time! And when you come fucking home, you're drunk off you're ass talking about all the wonderful shit you do that makes you sound like a piece of shit, Michael! Especially when it comes to some of the fans flirting with you!" Haylie yelled. "That idiotic road gives us money to live in this house and I don't think I need your permission to go out and drink with the guys! Are you my mother?" Michael snapped. "She agrees with me you asshole!" Haylie exclaimed, her hands forming fists. "She's lying to you, I'm her fucking angel!" He screamed. "The angel that doesn't know when to shut his mouth!" Haylie exclaimed. "Yeah, now I see why all of the fans call you a bitch, cause you're being one!" Michael yelled. "I'm going to go pack my shit and go." Haylie roughly said. "Yeah, run fucking away from a fight like you always do! See you just act like you're so fucking tough, but you always run away like a chicken!" Haylie grabbed the nearest thing by her, a plate, and threw it at the door, breaking the plate into millions of pieces. "I wish that door was your fucking head!" She yelled. "Yeah I do too, so that way I wouldn't have to listen to you anymore!" Michael yelled. Haylie grabbed a bear bottle and threw it at him, missing his head and the bottle hit the wall behind him. "Well, you got your fucking wish! I'm leaving." She declared and stomped upstairs to their bedroom. "Go fucking ahead! I don't need you! I have a shit ton of fans that can have me!" Michael exclaimed up the steps. A photo frame of them was thrown down at him, the glass broken all over it. "Glad we feel the same way!" Michael exclaimed. It didn't take long for her to come down with her backpack on her back. "I'm getting the fuck away from you moronic asshole, stay away from me." Haylie growled at him before leaving the house. "Best thing you've done your entire life!" Michael shouted at her as she got in her car.
