It took one phone call. A trip to the hospital. She looked at the hurt looks of her uncles. "Melody, you don't-" Ashton tried to tell her, but she didn't listen. Danny held onto Eliot and held Logan's hand as she went into the room. "Dad," she said. His body was still, laying down on the bed. "Daddy, I'm here." She spoke. Melody grabbed onto his hand tightly like she used to as a little girl. "Daddy, your grandsons are in the hall, wake up." He didn't even flinch. "Dad, wake up, I-I," she started to think of situations to wake him up.

"Uncle Calum has been shot." She told him. Nothing. "There was a car crash and Luke and Ashton died!" Michael stayed still. "Danny went into a coma and I don't know what to do!" She exclaimed. "It's Logan, Daddy, he-he's hurt." She added. "Eliot is in the hospital." She stated and grabbed onto his other hand. "I'm hurting myself again." Melody whispered.

"Daddy, Dad, why aren't you waking up!?" She cried and hugged him. "Mum's alive Dad! She's here! Come on, let's go see her!" She yelled. "Michael! Please! Please! I love you!" She begged and stopped her feet. She hit his chest, "Wake up! I-I," she thought, "I hate you!" She yelled into his face. Melody shook his hands. "Daddy," she cried, shaking herself, thinking of even more things. "I'm pregnant, you have to meet your grandchild!"

"Come on Daddy, Daddy, tell me something. Anything." Melody cried, still desperately waiting for a reply. She squeezed his hand. "Tell me something about tour, about how nervous you were when I was born, how I cried when I had to go to preschool." She begged and hugged his body again.

"Ma'am," a nurse came in. "No! No!" She exclaimed with tears face. "He's going to wake up!" Melody sobbed. "He will!" She yelled. "Ma'am," the nurse touched Melody's shoulder. "He's gone, sweetheart. I'm sorry." Melody shook her head. "No, no, he can't be." She weakly spoke. "I'm sorry, but he is." She stated. Danny walked into the room and hugged his wife. "He can't be dead! He just can't be!" She sobbed. "Melody, shh, shh," he hushed her.

*A week later*

Melody stared out her bedroom window. Like she has the last week. She wanted nothing to do with her kids, she didn't eat or drink, she only stared out the window. Not saying a word.

"Melody," Danny started. She continued to watch out the window. "Melody, the funeral is today." He stated. He didn't get a reply. "The kids are ready." Danny added. Melody didn't move. He sighed and started to walk out of the room. "Why did they have to die so closely?" She asked. Danny turned back to her. It was the first time she spoke since Michael died. "I have no idea." Danny answered. "It's a cruel thing of God to do that." Melody stated. "He took away part of my family. First Ryan, now my father. Watch, it'll be you, Vince, one of my uncles, then one of the kids next. He's making me suffer." She stated. "Melody, God doesn't want you to suffer-" "Then why must He take my love ones away!?" She yelled. "I think it's because they'd lived such a great life that it couldn't get any better after that." Danny told her and rubbed her shoulders. "Ryan had a kid to watch out for, he could've watched him grow up and help him. He could've gotten happier." Melody angrily stated. "MJ, calm down. If God didn't think it was the right timing, He wouldn't have taken them." Danny softly told her, kissing her temple. "Danny," she started. "Yes, Melody." He replied. "Can we watch some home movies tonight?" She asked. "I don't see why we can't." He answered. "Thank you. There's a black dress in the bathroom, can you help me?" Danny agreed and helped get her ready. "Are you ready?" He asked her. "I'll never be ready." She stated duly. "I'm sorry," he whispered and kissed her lips.

Melody only blankly stared at the funeral with the tears running down her eyes. Their children only sat quietly. Course, by their young age, they didn't quite understand everyone was crying, especially their Great Uncle Calum as he spoke. Danny held Melody close to him and would kiss her head and occasionally wipe the ignored tears. He too had tears of his own, knowing the man he looked to as an uncle type figure had passed away.

Melody took a hold of her two boys, holding them close as she ever had, feeling them close to her as they go out of the church. Feeling their warmth against her body, knowing they were with her. "I love you both so much, never think I don't." Melody whispered to them. She cried into their little shoulders. "Mummy stop being sad!" Logan encouraged her. Melody only looked at him and kissed his cheek. "I'll try, baby boy. I'll try." She said. Danny rubbed her shoulder and took Eliot in his arms.

The parents took their children home and Melody's uncles came to their house too. Danny had taken the two boys in bed and went downstairs to noticed his wife drinking wine and speaking of stories of her dad. "He's finally with her and we'll meet them again one day." Calum said and Melody nodded, wiping a tear away.

"Did they go down easily?" Melody asked as Danny sat next to her. "Yes, Eliot was asleep with his bottle in his mouth." Melody lightly giggled at the thought. "He's such a little pig." She lightly said. "Yeah he is." Danny agreed.

They spoke for hours on the new family and Michael.

"Mummy." Logan whined as he appeared at the bottom of the steps, his red dragon that Michael gave him in his hand. "I'll get-" Danny started. "No, it's fine." Melody said and picked Logan up. "What's up little lad? It's eleven at night." Melody asked him. He admittedly wrapped his arms around her neck, groaning. "What's wrong?" Melody questioned. "Want sleep." The little boy groaned. Melody rubbed his back and sat down on the recliner that rocked. "You know what, I'll sing you a special song." She whispered to him and started to gently rock. "My daddy used to sing me it to sleep." Melody added.

"For a while we pretended, that we never had to end. But we knew we had to say goodbye," Melody sang. She noticed her uncles' reactions. They all joined in at the chorus of the song.

"Torn in two and I know I shouldn't tell you, but I can't stop thinking you. Wherever you are."
