we open on the Owl House in Luz's room where her phone goes off she grabs it and looks at the screen widening her eyes, it is a event reminder involving her mother but she decides to ignore it.

y/n, Eda, King and Jack enter the living room and see the mess of paper Luz made making a bulletin board of Belos and his possible plan and even a to-do list.

Eda: "successfully build a portal to the human realm, learn every glyph combination, figure out what Belos is planning and show him what for"? 

Luz: look i already found a new combo.

Luz grabbed the stuffed bunny francois from kings head attached the glyph to it and threw it, the glyph stopped it in midair just before it hit the ground and it landed softer that it would have without the glyph.

King: ooh that will work great when birds try to fly away with me.

Luz: and i'm already on my way to building a second door.

the second door in question was a mess held together by Hooty and duct tape which fell apart.

Luz: it's a work in progress, but look at this.

Eda: did you steal my penstagram?

Luz: i borrowed it because i got a castle insider getting info on Belos Willow gave me Hunters contact.

Luz texted Hunter to get something from him but this also went poorly.

Eda: ok your hiding something spill it.

Luz: i am not.

there was a moment of silence until Luz broke.

Luz: maybe i am, ok i definitely am, every year me and mom have this little ritual we do it's nothing big i just miss her that's all.

King: what you need is a healthy distraction from your problems like breakfast.

Luz: yea i could go for a griffon egg.

Eda: well let us know if you need anything.

Luz: i'll see you in the kitchen.

Amity then enters the house.

Amity: Luz i have a problem and it could distract us all day.

Luz: tell me all about it and don't spare a single detail.

Amity: dad the Bonesborough brawl is tonight and since i'm old enough to participate i was thinking-.

Alador did not notice she was there.

Amity: dad!

Alador: oh mittens i didn't see you there.

Amity: clearly, so do you think you can me to the Bonesborough brawl tonight.

Alador: no tonight their holding the emperors coven tryouts in town your mother already signed you up and i prepared a chaperone to get you there safely.

Alador threw the book which the abomaton cut in half as it grabbed Amity as an alarm in its head went off.

Amity: you mean to make sure i get there, dad i don't want to go to coven tryouts i want to enter the brawl and maybe win the campion belt like you did.

Alador: i goofed off a lot back then but you have a bright future and shouldn't waste it on that nonsense.

then the abomaton carried Amity out of the lab.
