"These are gorgeous!" I smile while observing the finally ready minor outfits. I knew they were not our major focus, but the fact that they're ready means we're making progress.
I turn to the design crew "have you showed them to Clinton and Morgan yet?"
One of them shook their heads "not yet, Miss Jones. Miss Brandon stepped out but we'll be sure to show them to Mr Wells"
"Alright then. Keep up the good work" I give them one last smile before heading out the room and back to my office.
Immediately I opened the door to the room, Natalie's cry grabs by attention.
"Oh my God" I sigh. I walk down to where the trainees where trying to help me calm her down
"I think she's hungry" one of them said, handing her over to me
I chuckle "she's not, she just hates being left alone"
I sit down, holding Natalie like the precious jewel that she is and I rock her back and forth slowly
"Can't I be gone for 5 mins?" I asked as if she could understand me
Her voice started dropping but she was still looking at me, making small sobs
A small smile forms on my face as I repeated place kisses on her wet cheeks. She slowly started chuckling and I knew she was alright. She just wanted me to hold on to her, any attempt to leave her alone for too long becomes a problem.
"I need a break" I sigh, resting my back on my chair.
I pick up my phone and almost immediately, Gloria's call comes in
"Gloria? You're calling so early in the day, what's up?"
"Yeah, I know" she chuckles "I'm just calling to inform you that I just purchased my plan ticket for the fashion show. I'll be in New York soon"
My eyes suddenly lite up "For real?"
I let out a little squeal. I hadn't seen Gloria in almost a year and I was dying for her to see Natalie
"Are you coming a week to the show? A day to? When?"
She chuckles "Courtney, relax. I'll be in New York two days to the show....but you won't see me till the show though"
I pout "why not?"
"I dunno, just thought it'll be nicer that way. I can't wait to see what you look like now. The face times and TV interviews are doing no justice"
"I still look like me, Gloria."
Even I know that was a lie, I looked nothing like my former self. I had added weight, my skin was glowing differently, my hair was different, I was using contacts now and my dressing went on a total upgrade......I don't think I'll ever be able to stop thanking Morgan.
"That's not even possible. With a baby and that kind of pay? It would be a bad thing if you still looked like your former self, literally"
I frowned. Was that a compliment or.....
"We'll know when you get here then"

Eric's POV•
"You know what, Jeff, reschedule the meeting with Mr Lawson. I have an event to attend on that same day and I don't think....."
I turn to my room door that was pushed open, distracting me from my call
"Eric, can we talk.... please?" Her voice sounds so calm, so manipulative somehow
"Um sure. Jeffrey, let me call you back" I end the call and place my laptop aside
"Everything alright?"
Jane slowly takes her seat beside me, refusing to make eye contact.
She finally turns slightly to face me, making eye contact
"Eric, you know we've been going out for a while now... like to dinner, events and stuff"
I nod slightly
"And even you parents house. Your mum seems to like me also" she chuckles
I squint my eyes a bit, where was this heading?
"Eric, we're literally like a couple but you've refused to put a label to it"
I knew it
I let out a sigh and stand to my feet
"Why don't you like talking about this?" She asked
"Because I feel pressured, Jane. My relationship with Theresa happened because my mum liked her....how did that end up?"
I walk towards the room cabinet, placing my files back in the drawer.
"I'm not Theresa, Eric" she follows behind me "you can't use one woman to compare to the rest of us"
I turn to her "and I'm not trying to, Jane."
I let out a sigh, placing on hand on my hip and the other on my forehead
"Jane, when we first met, I thought this could work....I hoped it would, but if I'm being honest with you, my heart isn't even mine to give someone else. I'm finding it very difficult to fall for someone else" I sounded defeated
"Because of that mystery girl no one knew about? The girl after Theresa, is it her?"
I nodded slowly without hesitation. I really thought I was over Courtney, but speaking to her that day made me realize that I'm not.
"When we broke up....it broke me. Now, it's impossible to fall for someone else....I can't, Jane. It's not working"
She was quiet. She only stared at me, no words, no expression....I couldn't even tell what she was thinking.
"We'll work it out, Eric. It's time for you to move on and I'll help you do that. If she broke up with you, it's because she doesn't love you anymore. You can't be in a one sided situationship..... you're the Eric Martinez"
"What does my identity have to do with anything?"
She moves closer to me "you can't be sulking over a woman who isn't with you anymore. Eric Martinez attracts, not chase"
I let out a sigh. She was right and wrong at the same time.
I've never been one to chase, I've never been one to sulk....but I haven't been myself since I ran into Courtney in Gloria's wedding.
