Two Worlds Apart

Chapter 124

Days have passed by, and trust me, it's been a hot couple of days. Social media, magazines, the news, everywhere you look and everything you see has the headline: Eric Martinez engages Courtney Jones.

A lot has happened, a lot has been said, a lot has been trending, but I can say one thing for sure; this proposal has gotten me several hater, and when I say haters, I mean haters.

A lot of people have said a lot about me, one even said I'm currently pregnant, hence the proposal. Can you imagine that?

"Your husband already called me, Miss Jones. I'll get rid of them immediately"

I let out a sigh "thank you. The last thing I need is a trending gossip" which aren't even true.

"No problem, Miss"

"Thank you" I hang up the call and pick up my laptop.

I have so many things on ground to take care of, Morcé's outfit, Sophia's wedding, a baby to take care of, My own wedding.....I don't need all this.

My phone begins to buzz again, a video call coming in from Brie.

I place my laptop down. Immediately I pick the call, I hear screams of congratulations from almost everyone in the design crew.

"What in the world...." I let out a heartfelt chuckle

"Congratulations!!" They all yell again

I can see everyone trying to fit their faces into the video

"We're so happy for you, Miss Jones!" One of them yell

I place my hand on my chest "awwn, thank you so much, everyone. I really appreciate this"

"Look at the ring!" Someone yells, then all start to chatter.

"How did you guys even find out?"

Like I don't know it's the job of the media

"The internet, of course" Brie answers

"When are you returning? We need to celebrate" someone else asks

I let out a sigh "I'll be returning soon enough, just hold on to that celebration"

"We'll plan everything before you get back"

I let out a small chuckle "no problem. Lemme talk to you guys later"

They all wave me good by before the call comes to an end.

I would be lying if I said MFE staffs weren't the sweetest souls ever. It's like being part of a real family with everyone rooting for you.

I place my phone away again and pick up my laptop again....

"Courtney!"

Wait, does no one want me to work today?

Sophia rushes into the living room and falls beside me "I need your help"

"Sophia, not right now" I let out a sigh "I have work to do.... we'll deal with it later"

She turns to my laptop "oh, is it your wedding plans?"

I turn to her "wedding plans? How? Why so early? Of course it's not"

She frown "I'm already excited to start planning"

I turn my gaze to my engagement ring, lifting my hand slightly as I observe it.

"What about Mrs Martinez?" She asks

I let out sigh "I don't know, I haven't heard anything about her since the engagement"

"Do you think she'll try something?"

I raise a brow "you think I'll let that happen? In as much as I have to respect her as Eric's mum, I'm not letting that women get away with any stunt she pulls"

She let out a sigh "I'm scared though"

I wave it off "just relax, I'll be fine"
