Chapter 105

When I say social media is on fire today, I mean it. It's blowing up with pictures from every angle....what can I say, it's the birthday of the only heir to the Martinez fortune and also CEO of Martinez Constructions.

I was really starting to have second thought about going, but Sophy kept giving me reasons I should go through out the night.

"So class last night was for nothing?" She folds her arm, staring down at me

"It's not like it was for nothing, I'm just.... reconsidering"

"And I've given you reasons you shouldn't." She claps her hand at my face "just go and get this thing over and done with. I'll watch Natalie for you"

I sigh, flipping my hair to the back "fine, let's get ready then"

Eric POV•

"I have your suit" I hear Jane say

It's starting to look like she lives here, literally.

I stand in front of my mirror, buttoning the arms of the shirt before proceeding to knotting my tie

"Come, I'll help you" she walks around me, not failing to brush her hand against my shoulder

I stay quiet and watch her while she knots the tie

"Are you having second thoughts?" She looks up at me

I raise a brow "Why?"

She shrugs "I don't know" she takes her hands off "You don't seem to have a good relationship with your mum and you seem to not want the party either"

I let out a sigh "My mum is the last person I would want to spend my birthday with and her idea of 'small' isn't usually small"

"But what did she do? Why are you guys so distant?"

I'm not talking about this today

I pick up my car key from the dress table and pick up my suit jacket

"Let's just get going"

Small? Barbara Martinez doesn't know what that word means. The compound is filled with cars that I can barely find where to park.

I shake my head and turn off the car. I get down before turning around to open up for Jane. We make our way past the cars and into the probably filled up house.

"The birthday boy is here" My Mum says with a smile immediately we step into the house.

I'm so happy I don't live here anymore, the house was crowded.

"Hello, honey" she place a kiss on my cheek

"Hi, Mum. What a small party indeed"

She looks around "I know right?"

I roll my eyes, makinh my way into the living room, leaving her with Jane. I don't recognize so many people, but my eyes did land on the people I did recognize.

Theresa stood with her parents close to the window before she takes notice of me. She waves with a smile before excusing herself

"Hi, Eric. Happy Birthday" She had a grin on her face

I force a small smile "Thank you, Theresa. Have you seen My Dad?"

She nods "he's in his study. I got you a gift though, would you like to open it now or"

I shake my head "probably when I'm leaving" which would be anytime soon

I head out the living room and was just about to go to the study when Daniel walks in
