From rags to riches, or something of that sort.
Courtney's life takes a dramatic turn for the better when she gets tangled up in the Martinez lives. But when she falls in love with Eric, his jealous ex and overbearing mother threaten to ruin any...
Something about the atmosphere feels light.....feels free.
Maybe it has something to do with Barbara Martinez finally staying off my case.
After that tensed meeting and reveal at the Martinez mansion, Lady Audrey—which I call Eric's grandmother, made Barbara promise to stay away from me and everything that concerns me.
She has tried asking Eric for forgiveness multiple times since then, but currently, Eric's refusing to give it.
In as much as I feel free, someone else feels caged in guilt.
Even though it feels so good to be accepted by Audrey Martinez, something about Barbara's distance still didn't sit right with me.
"Courtney, what do you think?" I hear Sophia's excited voice, pulling me out of my head.
I turn my attention to the dress she's holding up in front of her.
Talk about plain
"Too plain"
She pouts with a frown "but it's less expensive"
I let out a sigh, running my finger through my hair "Sophia, please pick a dress and stop looking for what's cheap and what's not"
"Meanie" she turns around with a frown, walking towards the other dresses.
We're currently at a dress store as you may have guessed and Sophia's been going around looking for what's cheap instead of choosing a dream wedding dress.
I scroll through my phone, seated in the fitting room and she tries on various dresses.
"Would you like a refill, Miss Jones?"
I look up at the lady wearing a welcoming smile, holding a coffee jug in her hand.
"Sure" I give her a smile, handing my mug over
"Won't you like to pick a dress for your wedding as well, Ma'am?" She hands the mug back after filling it up.
"I don't really know yet. Haven't seen one I like" I place the mug down
"I know it'll take a lot to impress a fashion figure as yourself, but I'll be happy to show you some"
I smile with a one shoulder shrug "go ahead"
My plate is too full to even start planning for the wedding. I have Morcé's project on ground and I don't know how to fit anything else in.
"Courtney"
I look up from my phone at Sophia who has a grin on her face and an absolutely stunning wedding dress on.
I open my mouth to speak, but close it back when I couldn't find the right words.
I feel something stir inside me, something about just seeing the dress on her.
"I swear I'll cry if you start crying" she says with a pout
That was it....my emotions are building up.
I take in a deep breath to control myself.
"Do you like it?" I manage to say
She nods vigorously with a grin "I love it"

"Then you'll get it"
She looks down at the dress "I don't know how much it costs though"
I take a sip from my coffee "doesn't matter" I place the cup down "I'll sort off what's left"
A grin forms on her face, her inside almost bursting out in excitement "thank youuu"
"Miss Jones" I look towards the lady that calls out to me
"What do you think about this?"
I turn my attention to the mannequin beside her.
"Oh my...." Sophia gasps
She pushes the mannequin towards us as I stand to my feet, slowly making my way to the dress.
"Goodness" I whisper, running my fingers gently on the dress "this is beautiful"

A grin forms on her face "does it work for you, Miss?"
I nod vigorously, letting out a little chuckle "it's perfect. Can I pay for this until I'm ready to pick it up?"
She smiles "certainly, Miss"

"Welcome, Ma'am" the security at the door greets as he opens up the door to Eric's house for me.
"Thank you, Marcus" I give a slight smile before heading in.
I walk towards the stairs, heading out of the quiet living room. I knock slightly before pushing the door in gently and sticking my head in first.
"Hello" I said, smiling at the sight of Eric playing with Natalie.
He looks up from her and at my head poking in.
"Was there a reason you knocked first?"
I push the door further, finally going in and closing it behind me.
"Well, just incase you were naked or something" I place my purse on the table beside the bed, making my way beside him.
He raises a brow, sitting up straight "and it's something you've not seen?"
I shake my head vigorously, a smile on my face.
He turns back to Natalie who was lying on the bed "I told you she's crazy"
Just imagine.
I let out a gasp "you're talking bad about me in front of my daughter?"
He picks her up "yes, yes I am"
"That's just mean"
A smile forms on his face as he stands up to his feet, just an inch away from me
"I know" he places a kiss on my lip before walking away "how was your bridal shopping?"
I shrug "it was fun" a smile then forms "plus, I found my wedding dress"
He comes to a stop, turning back to me "really?"
I nod "trust me, it's better than fabulous....but you'll have to wait till the wedding"
"What are we waiting for? Let's pick a date alright?" he opens up the door "I really need My wife and daughter with me already" he heads out.
