The Nerd And The Weirdo

I stretched and rubbed my eyes after studying my textbook for what seemed like the whole afternoon. Hopefully someone will help me study. I checked my watch and realized Lynn was at practice so Alexa was probably my best bet. Although, probably not the most productive considering we're best friends. "Alexa!" I yelled as I wandered out of my room. "In the kitchen!" She yelled back. I heard her talking to either herself or someone else. When I made my way through the doorway I saw a brunette who looked a couple inches shorter than me. I gave her a small nod while trying to subtly check her out. She was absolutely stunning and slightly familiar, but I couldn't place exactly where I'd seen her. "Who's this?"

"This," She said, "Is Tay. Tay Jardine. You probably know her as the singer of the band we went and saw last week. Her and the boys were rather worn out after the show, so you didn't get a proper introduction." I nodded and Alexa turned to Tay, "Tay, this is (Y/N). My very best friend since practically the womb." I smiled and rolled my eyes at her, "And (Y/N), this is Tay. The lead singer of We Are The In Crowd and a friend of mine that I met at Warped last year. By the way, what did you need when you came in?"

"Can you help me study for my test tomorrow, Lexa?" I pouted. She looked at the time and then back to me apologetically. "I have to pick Lynn up from practice and then I planned on grabbing the three of us some lunch." I nodded and she looked over at Tay, "Would you mind helping the nerd study for a few hours?" Tay shook her head, "Not at all." I smiled at her and she blushed before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, I shall see you with take out in a few hours."

"Can you ask Lynn if she still wants to watch the game tonight? My phone's dead and I have to study." She nodded and hugged me, "That girl would never pass up watching a hockey game with you, stupid." I hit her arm playfully and she rolled her eyes before walking out the door. "Now what are we studying?" Tay asked as I led her to my room. "Ah, so good that you asked, dear Taylor. We are studying the wonders of biology. And also some technical music stuff." I sat on my bed and looked up at her. She stared at me for a moment before sitting across from me and taking the flashcards off my nightstand. "What first?" We studied for awhile before she raised an eyebrow at me, "You got all of these right. I don't know why you needed help studying." I shrugged and laid back on my bed, "You should get some kind of prize or something." She laughed before laying next to me. "Oh really? And what would that prize be?" I rolled on my side and she did the same so we were facing each other. "I don't know. What do you want it to be." She leaned closer and glanced at my lips before looking up at me. "You're the teacher. Why don't you te-" Before I could finish my stupid remark she pressed her lips to mine. I set my hand at her hip and pulled her closer to me as she wrapped her arms around my neck. It felt right, like we were meant to be. I know it sounds stupid, but it really did. She pulled away and sat up quickly before running her fingers through her hair. "N-no. I'm straight. Fuck, I have a boyfriend! What am I even doing?" I sat up and tried to get her to look at me but she shook me off before getting up to leave. I followed her and heard the door open. Lynn and Alexa glanced at Tay and then back to me. "See you guys. I've gotta go." Tay walked out and slammed the door shut. "What the hell was that about?" Lynn asked as she pulled off her jacket and boots. "I.. I honestly don't know." I was so frustrated I felt tears start to form in my eyes. If she was straight why did she kiss me? Even worse than that, if she had a boyfriend why would she kiss me? "Hey.." Alexa snapped her fingers in front of my face. "You've been dazed for a solid ten minutes. Do you want to talk about it?" I shrugged, "Kind of.. I'm just.. confused?" Alexa pulled me to the couch and sat cross legged across from me. "The take out place was closed, so Lynn is ordering us pizza. Your jerseys are washed and ready to go. The game will be on in ten minutes. So, let's talk about what has you so confused?"

"Tay." I sighed and buried my face in my hands. I felt Lynn rub my back as she made her way to the recliner. "What happened when I left?" Alexa looked at me sadly, "Seriously. I haven't seen you so upset over a girl since the girl in tenth grade who rejected your invite to the dance." I glared up at her, "We don't talk about her." I cleared my throat, "Tay... She.. kissed me?" I looked up at Alexa and she looked as confused as i was. " I thought Tay was straight?"

"She is I guess? Although, she didn't decide to inform me of this until we kissed for a solid five or ten minutes." I leaned back and laid my head on the arm of the couch. "I don't know, man.." She pulled me up by my arm before pulling me into a tight hug. "Just know me and Lynn got you. Especially me. We've been best friends since the beginning of time and it'll stay that way until the end." She smiled at me. "Come on. Pizza is here and the hockey game in on."

"Alexa San Roman, that has to be my favorite sentence in all the world." I grinned at her and the rest of the night was spent yelling at the TV screen and stuffing my face.

~Two Weeks Later~

"Are you sure you don't want to come?" Alexa asked from the doorway. "I'm sure. Go out with your girlfriend." I smiled up at her, "I don't wanna third wheel on your guys' aniversary."

"You know it wouldn't be like that. We both love hanging out with you." I raised my eyebrow at her, "Yes, but on your anniversary you're not supposed to hang out with your best friend. Besides, you're going to the amusement park. Both of your fans will be there. And they're there to see the best couple in music, Lynn Gunn and Alexa San Roman. Not Lynn, Alexa, and Alexa's unfamous best friend." She rolled her eyes and walked over to hug me. "Your loss, nerd." I smile and hugged her back before she left. "Wish me luck!" She yelled as her and Lynn walked out the door. After a half an hour or so I heard the door open and shut again. Not even looking up from my computer I spoke, "Why are you guys back already?"

"They're not." I heard a familiar voice speak from my doorway. "How did you get in and what do you want?" I looked up at met eyes with Tay. "Well, the door was unlocked and to talk." She stared back into my eyes. "You have five minutes." I shut my computer and leaned against the headboard before she sat down next to me. "I really like you, (Y/N). In like.. not a friend way. Which is weird for me because I've never really had a crush on a girl before. But, when we kissed it felt right. It held more sparks and magic for me than kissing any stupid boy."

"You have a boyfriend." I looked over at her and she shook her head, "Had a boyfriend. I broke up with Alex before coming here.:

"Why?"

"Because I couldn't get you out of my head. No matter how hard I tried nothing would work."

"But you're straight.." I felt butterflies form in the pit of my stomach. "That's the thing. I don't think I am. At least not anymore," She ran her fingers through her hair before barely whispering, "What are you doing to me?"

"Don't you think you should.. Test it? So you know for sure I mean..." She blushed and stared straight at me before glancing at my lips. "Hm.. I suppose you're right.." She leaned in and kissed me. It was like a fairy tale moment. Butterflies were floating around inside of me, I could almost hear the fireworks being ignited by the sparks that were created between us. Kissing Tay felt real and right and special. I just hope she felt the same way. She pulled back for a moment and looked at me, "So?" I asked. She pecked my lips again before smiling, "Pretty sure I'm not straight. But I um.." She bit her lip and sat across from me, "I have a q-question.." I nodded and looked at her, "Shoot."

"I um.. I don't know where this might go.. I think I'm honestly falling in love with you. Pretty hard. It might be too soon to say that or you might not feel the same way, but that felt right. Kissing you, I mean. And I know I don't really have any experience with girls, but umm.. If you're willing. I'd like to see where this goes.."

"That wasn't a question." She blushed as I laughed, "Will um.. Will you be my u-uh gir-rlfri-iend." She stuttered out. "Yes I will." I kissed her soft and quick and pulled away to look into her brown eyes and smile at her. "Th-hanks?" I laughed again and kissed her cheek. "You're welcome, weirdo."
