"May we meet again." And with those few words, Lincoln was shot. I felt my knees turn to jelly and the tears start pouring down my face and I ran. I didn't stop running until I got into camp and back into my room. I pulled his jacket into my chest, laid on the floor, and sobbed for what felt like years. Someone knocked quietly on the door, "O.. Its Bell.. Can I come in?"
"Go away. Just everyone, go away."
"You'll have to come out sometime." Bellamy whispered. "Fine! Fucking fine!" I stood up and walked over to the door, pushing it open, and storming out. "Happy?" I stared up at him for a moment before looking for Raven. I walked into the mechanics room and saw Wick. "Hey, where's Raven?" He raised an eyebrow at me, "Over there." He nodded to his left and I walked over. "Rae, where's the booze?" Raven chuckled and I glared at her as she turned around, "No alcohol until I know it's not because you're sad."
"I'm fine. Give me." I reached for the bottle behind her and she stood in front of me. "You're fine? Your warpaint is dripping down your cheeks and you're shaking." Raven crossed her arms and looked up at me. I sighed and looked down at my boots, "I just want to forget. I want it gone. I loved him Raven." I started sobbing again and Raven pulled me down to her. "I know, O. Let's take you to get some rest, alright?" I nodded and she walked me to my room. She sat down with me on the bed and I stared at the ceiling. "Get some rest, Octavia." She stood up and I grabbed her hand gently, "Raven.. Stay.. Just for tonight.." She looked at me and I saw the worry in her eyes, "Okay." She whispered after a few moments of brief silence. I cuddled into her, resting my head on her chest and my arms around her waist. "Goodnight.." I drifted off to sleep, holding onto her tightly.
~Months Later~
"You need to work on your speed. You make it easy for me to come behind and attack." Indra threw me to the ground once more and I stared up at her as she moved closer. I knocked her legs out from under her and took her weapon, "Or maybe it is easy set up to disarm you." She smiled up at me, "You are learning, Octavia. Lincoln would be proud."
"He's the only reason you took me in as your second again." I planted her sword next to her and took my seat on a large rock. She nodded, "He taught you our ways and turned you into a warrior. A grounder." She placed her hand on my shoulder, "And I want you to fight by my side when we avenge him." I nodded, "Break for now. I may have left a few wounds too deep." I looked down at the blood soaking my tank top and headed to med bay. "Hello Dr. Griffin and Clarke." I sat down at the table in front of the blonde and she smiled, "You look happy today."
"Stitch me up, Doc." I grinned up at Clarke as we talked like normal. Raven burst into the room and looked down at me laying on the table. "Why exactly is there a trail of blood leading to this door?" She raised an eyebrow at me and I rolled my eyes, "Why are you looking at me?"
"I followed it from your usual training spot." She glared at me and walked off. "Uh oh your girlfriend's upset, O." Clarke chuckled. "She's not my girlfriend." I mumbled, but I felt something different when looking at Raven walk away. Something.. New. "Clarke finished stitching me up and I thanked her before making my way towards the door. Abby stopped me, "She cares for you a lot, you know? She just doesn't want you hurt." I nodded and made my way towards Raven's room. "Why do you continue to endanger yourself everyday?" She yelled as I walked into the room. "I have to train, Raven. I have to be faster, stronger, able to fight. I can't just continue to be weak Octavia Blake who has to have her brother protect her." I crossed my arms and she stood and walked over to me. "Fucking fine then. Show me how strong you are." She shoved me back slightly and I could almost feel the anger from both of us in the air. She continued shoving me and finally I turned her and pushed her against the wall, "Do you really want a fight?" I growled out at her and she clenched her jaw at me, "Fucking do something, Octavia." Oh I will. I leaned forward and kissed her. She quickly kissed me back and pulled me closer to her body. When we pulled away she stared into my eyes, "I'm not going to fight you." I mumbled, sitting down on her bed. "You're just going to go out there and fight wars and get hurt and hope I'll be here waiting for you." She sighed, running her hands through her hair, "That's the plan," I whispered, not looking into her eyes. "When do you leave.." She whispered, her voice cracking. "Now.." I stood and hugged her tightly. "Please don't.." She whispered weakly. I looked at her, "I have to.." I saw the tears in her eyes as she leaned up and kissed me quickly, "Go win me a war, O."
"I'll try, Little Bird. May we meet again."
"May we meet again." She mumbled as I walked out of her room and met Indra at the gate.
~Return from the war~
I limped back to camp with Indra, smiling with victory. "For Lincoln." I whispered, ignoring the pain and blood and even the arrow sticking out of my shoulder. "Let us head to the healer." Indra ordered our army and we all headed that way. Indra sat in front of Clarke and I made my way to Abby who did nothing but frown at me. "Raven is going to have a fit." I bit my lip so hard it bled as she pulled the arrow out of my shoulder. At this exact moment, of course it had to be this one, I saw a familiar red jacket peek into the med tent. Her eyes filled with tears and her face took on an expression of anger as she turned and walked out. "Told you.." Abby whispered and the rest of the time she spent patching me up was spent in silence. "Go enjoy yourself, warrior. You have earned it." Indra smiled at me and I made my way to Raven, similar to the night we had our first kiss and opened the door. "I did win you a war.." I said and looked at her. She was sitting on her bed with her head in her hands. "You had arrows stuck in you, gashes cut into your body, and you have a limp." She glared up at me. "Yeah.. I do. But sometimes that happens in battle, Rae."
"Maybe I don't want my girlfriend getting hurt. Maybe I don't want to have to worry about your group coming back to tell me that you're dead." Her voice got louder as she spoke, "Maybe I fucking love you, Octavia. And maybe I just wish you could be safe and we could be happy and we didn't have to worry about fighting wars." I stopped and knelt in front of her, "What?"
"I love you." She looked me in the eyes and I felt my heart start to race. I kissed her and she pulled me closer to her, "I love you too, Raven." I whispered against her lips and felt her smile into the kiss. "I guess I need to accept that you are a grounder. A warrior. But you're my warrior." I kicked my boots off and climbed into bed next to her, placing another soft kiss to her lips, "And I love you."
