Blood Like Gasoline by Against the Current

"You're bad for me.." I whispered against her lips as she pulled me into her arms. Our bodies pressed against each other as we laid there. She stared at me in wonder and smiled softly, "Maybe I am.. But I do love you.." I kissed her lips once more as she wrapped her arms around my bare back. "I love you too, Lexa.." I laid my head down on her shoulder, burying my face in the crook of her neck as she played with my hair gently. I was in love with the Commander of the twelve clans and our relationship had been a secret since she got the title. In public she would give no affection and barely glanced at me if she could help it. I would run around and do my work for the camp, aching for the moments where instead of being Heda she could just be Lexa. My Lexa. The girl who gave me soft smiles as we laid in her bed together and would kiss me gently with her lips like fire as the sunlight poured in at the first signs of morning. In the night when we were alone we would take warm baths together and she'd find any excuse to just be close to me whether holding my hand, having an arm around me, or just touching me in some way. I put up with it though, even though it meant I'd have to watch other grounders and even members of the Skaikru as they practically drooled over my girlfriend. Our love was fire where she was the open flame and my blood was the gasoline begging for her touch, but even some flames burn out. I sighed as she led Clarke from Skaikru off for some meeting or another. After an hour or so boy walked up to me, "Hi. I'm Bellamy." He smirked down at me, clearly full of himself. "(Y/N). I mumbled. He put his hand on my shoulder and I looked up to see Lexa glaring daggers into his back. "Would you happen to be open to a possible date?" He raised an eyebrow to me and I saw Lexa advance towards us. Clarke giggled as Lexa pulled Bellamy away from me, "(Y/N) we have important business to attend to. Come." I nodded and followed her as Bellamy watched after us like a lost puppy. When we reached our tent she pushed me up against the wall and kissed me roughly, "You are mine. And mine alone." I pulled away and sighed softly, cheeks still red from blushing, "Sometimes it doesn't really feel like it, Lexa.." I whispered, watching as her eyes softened and she wrapped her arms around my waist gently, "I know our relationship isn't ideal.. But it is so I can protect you.. I can't let anything happen to you.." She rested her forehead against my own, not caring that our warpaint would smudge together, and stared into my eyes, "I love you, (Y/N). I cannot lose you.." She whispered, her voice cracking. That night Lexa fell asleep as I got ready to walk out. I made my way out into the forest and stopped when I reached an old hut that had been abandoned some time ago. I went to sleep inside of it and awoke to Lexa's voice echoing off of the trees. She called my name and the usually level headed commander sounded panicked as the clouds turned from fluffy white to a dark grey, meaning a storm was brewing. Hearing her upset made me want to hold her closer to me, so I made every attempt to scream back, but the wind drowned out my calls. It seemed our fire love might be left in ashes as the rain started to pour. I smiled, enjoying the weather and began to spin and dance as the rain poured. I opened my eyes again to find Lexa staring at me, A smile pressed on her face as tears fell down her cheeks. Her warpaint was leaking down her face and he hair was soaked, as was my own, but I held my hand out to her. "Dance with me?" She smiled and took my hand as I pulled her closer. We swayed gently in the rain before she spoke quietly, "I thought.. I thought I lost you.." I shook my head and looked up at her, "I don't want to hide anymore, Lexa. I want everyone to know I'm yours.. And that you're mine. I know you'll protect me. And you know If I need to I can protect myself.." She stared into my eyes and nodded, "I'm so sorry, (Y/N)." I shook my head and kissed her softly, "Shh.. no more apologies.." Lexa smiled and kissed my lips gently before speaking again, "No more apologizing then.. Just a question.. Marry me?" She whispered as my eyes opened widely, "Really?" She nodded, waiting my response as the rain continued to pour over us. I kissed her in excitement, "Yes. A million times yes." She smiled and held me close as we swayed gently, "No more hiding. I promise." We danced in the rain for awhile longer before returning back to camp. That night we slept soundly as Lexa held onto me tightly, trying to assure I wouldn't leave again. The next day she called a meeting of the entire camp, "Next week (Y/N) and I are to be wed. We have been hiding this relationship since before I took on the title of Commander. Anyone attempts to make any move to claim or hurt her and they will be punished. We welcome you all to celebrate with us at the wedding." Lexa smiled from where she stood behind me. Anya put a hand on Lexa's shoulder, "I am proud of you, Lexa. You have chosen a wonderful girl. I wish you both well." Lexa and I made our way back to our tent before getting into a warm bath. She sat behind me and her lips pressed small kisses against the back of my bare shoulders and neck leaving a small trail of fire after igniting my blood like gasoline. She wrapped her arms around my waist gently and pulled me against her, whispering sweet nothings in my ear.
