She's My Home

I made my way towards the butterfly forest, just trying to escape. Even though she was my sister she acted more as my commander than anything. I love her, I do, and I know she loves me, but can't she just hug her sister when she's sobbing in their room just once? Maybe that's too much to ask of Lexa. Maybe. I stopped when I saw someone standing in the pale blue glow. "I told you not to follow me, Bellamy!" She yelled out in clear english. Sky person. I stepped out from the shadows with my hand on my sword just in case. "I'm not Bellamy. Might I ask who you are?" She stood defensive and shocked to see someone unfamiliar. Lexa told me a group of people had come down to Earth but I never believed her until now. "Octavia Blake. You?"

"(Y/N) kom Trikru. I swear I'm not gonna hurt you. I just came out here to think." She nodded, sitting down on the stump. She looked at me and patted the spot next to her, "Me too, but I stumbled upon this place accidentally. So, what's on your mind, grounder?" I smiled at her and sat down relaxing a little, but not too much. "My sister worrying more about leading than being my sister. What about you sky person?"

"My brother worrying more about controlling me instead of being my brother." I felt her lean against me a little and my skin felt like it was on fire due to her touch. "I just had to get away for awhile. I'll probably find some cave to stay in and just live outside of the city for now." We had been talking for hours before I heard a horn blaring too close to the forest. "Come with me. Now!" She stared at me confused but ran alongside me anyways. There had to be somewhere close. I knew these trees like the back of my hand and soon drug her into a small hut. I looked around and remembered why I knew this hut so well. It was my and Lexa's old home. "Why did we have to run this quickly exactly?" Octavia laid back against my bed and I took off my sheath and armor before laying next to her, "Those horns mean acid fog is coming. We should probably stay here for the night to make sure you're safe. I'll walk you back in the morning." She nodded and looked around the room, "Are there just huts like this everywhere?" I nodded, smiling when I noticed the old weapons rack in the corner with my old sword on it. "Yeah. For people who don't want to live so close to the city. TonDC is wonderful and all, but sometimes you just want an escape. Mostly warriors live outside of the city though. It's safer that way."

"So you're a warrior, eh?" She grinned, amusement evident in her eyes."I am, yeah. I've been trained ever since I was young. I'm pretty good at it now and I can handle myself in fights, armed or unarmed." I grinned with confidence as she stared up at the ceiling, "You think you could teach me?"

"If you wanted, I could." She laid her head on my shoulder and cuddled closer to me before closing her eyes, "I'd like that." I awoke the next morning with her arms wrapped tightly around my waist and her still sleeping soundly. "Octavia, wake up." I whispered softly in her ear and her eyes fluttered open, "Why?" I motioned for her to listen outside where her name was being called in the distance. "Damn.. Will I see you again?" I kissed her forehead before hugging her tightly. "Definitely. Especially if you would like to start your training. I'll either be here or in the forest." She smiled before turning and walking towards the distant voices. I waited awhile before walking towards her camp, climbing the trees to make sure she was safely inside.

"You're telling me they're going to TonDC?" I asked her, slightly irritated because of what she told me. Something felt off about this and I didn't like it. "Yes. And I'm going to. I would like it if you came with me. Lincoln likes you too." She looked at me almost apologetically as she said his name. She was in love with him and she was my best friend, so if he made her happy I would be fine. I couldn't ignore that there was something more there than platonic feelings though. I took a minute to look at her and take it all in. She was in full grounder gear with warpaint on her eyes and my old sword strapped to her back. She was Trikru now and I couldn't help but smile. She smiled back at me, "There's my (Y/N). Now come on, we better go." I walked around the familiar town and ducked my head around people who knew of my leaving. Lexa could not know I was here. I don't think I could face her after leaving. It got dark and Octavia leaned against me with her arms around my waist, but then I saw it, the light in the sky. "Octavia. We need to go. Now!" She looked at me confused and I paused before picking her up and trying to run, but I was too late. The bomb dropped and we were blown back from the impact. When I sat up I stared out at the damage and felt tears start running down my face. I had to get up, I had to save them, but before I could stand Octavia pulled me back down, "(Y/N), we can't go there."

"I.. I have to save them.. My friends.. My sister.. My sister!" I yelled in pain as I tried to get back up again. This time she stood along with me but pulled me back with her into the forest. I struggled against her grip before collapsing and sobbing into her chest. My home was gone. "They're.. They could all be dead.. My home is gone.." I cried, tears running down my face like a waterfall, as she held me tightly and rubbed my back, "You've still got me.. And as long as we're together we'll always be home." She kissed my temple, a sigh leaving her lips.

Screams echoed into the forest and my training group stared at me. I knew those screams. I nodded to a supervising officer before dashing through the woods where I found her. She could hardly keep it in, just screaming. "Octavia.." I whispered. She paused as if she wasn't sure how to respond, but turned anyway where I was met with her eyes filled with tears. "Leave me alone." Her voice was shaky, weak, and not at all convincing. "You.. You don't mean that." She shook her head and pushed past me. She didn't talk to me for days, avoided me completely. I left the camp after that, knowing I couldn't stand not being near her. I fell in love with her, what was I supposed to do? Nightfall came and once again I was alone, but for some reason I was drawn to a certain direction and once I started walking I couldn't stop. I didn't remember where I was going, but once the blue light came into view I knew. I saw her there, but for the first time in awhile she wasn't in war paint and armor. She was her. She was Octavia. She turned and looked at me, an eyebrow raised in a way like she was challenging me to speak first. She smiled sadly at my presence before speaking, "Raven told me you left.. I came looking for you. I saw the butterflies and just... got lost. This was the last place I felt any hope." She stood and pulled me with her into the middle of the forest, "This was the first place I saw you.. Standing there all intimidating.. Before I saw the way you smiled.." She put her arms on my shoulders hesitantly before mine fell on her waist. We always danced like this when camp was closer, but after so many grounders were killed it hurt me to be near the old dropship. "This is the first place I realized I was in love with you.." She whispered, like she didn't want me to hear. "Funny.. Because I don't think I realized I was in love with you until I realized that you were one of the only people who could see the real me.." I whispered back, her head shot up in shock before she pressed her lips to mine out of excitement and I felt her smile against my lips as I smiled against hers. She pulled away and stared deep into my eyes, tracing the tattoos that poked out of the neckline of my shirt. "It's not safe for you... for us.."

"Who said we had to stay?" I smirked at her as confusion spread across her features, "We pack up and we go. Off to Polis."

"What're we waiting for?" We ran back to Camp Jaha hand in hand before packing all of our armor, weapons, and possessions onto our horses and traveling to Polis. "How do you know they'll let us stay here..?" I sighed, looking down at my boots before opening the door, "Because my sister is the Commander.. And I haven't seen her in a long long time.." She nodded, squeezing my hand gently as we made our way in. "Your business here?" A member of the clan I wasn't familiar with asked, rather annoyed, "I suggest you don't speak to me that way."

"Oh? And why is that, little girl?" I reached for my smaller knife before I heard a familiar voice, "That's enough. Leave her be." Anya's voice boomed. "Anya.. I.. She just barged in here.." His nerves crept through his voice and she stood in front of me, head proud, but teary eyes, "She has every right to be here. She is Heda's sister after all."

"Is she awake?"

"I'm sure Lexa will make an exception for you." She pulled me into a tight hug and led Octavia and I up the stairs. I felt my heart pounding against my ribs as the door was opened to the Commander's chambers. "Lexa.." Her name came out in a breath, almost inaudible. She turned to me, "You.. You have returned..?"

"Yes. And for good now if you'll have me." It came out in a whisper and Octavia had an arm around my waist for comfort. I saw Lexa smile for the first time in ages, "I'm so sorry I left." Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes before Lexa pulled me into a tight hug, "I'm sorry I pushed you to leave." She pulled back, her glance landing on Octavia, "She is.. Yours, yes?"

"She's the love of my life. My home." Octavia smiled at me, pulling me down for another kiss. "I love you, (Y/N) kom Trikru."

"And I am in love with you Octavia Blake."
