TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of abuse

I awoke to the sunlight peeking through a little gap in my tent flap and groaned. Back to work we go, I thought, standing up and pulling on jeans and a loose tank top. Considering the fact we could be attacked at any moment, it wasn't exactly the best choice of clothing, but I would prefer being comfortable while it's blazing hot. I don't have much else going for me anyways. Well, other than Octavia Blake. I stood outside for a minute, scanning my eyes over the camp, and felt my anxiousness calm at the sight of her. She was talking to Miller about something I couldn't hear because of the distance, but stopped as her eyes locked with mine. She smiled at me as a blush painted her cheeks and she tucked some hair behind her ear before waving at me. I returned the wave, smiling brightly at her before I started blushing as well and looked down at the ground. I didn't think life on Earth would be all that great because, well, let's face it, I've never been the type for group settings. Hell, even when I was just sitting in Earth Sciences class with these kids they all treated me like I had the plague. Most of them still do, but not her. She looks at me like I could walk on water. If only she knew what you were capable of, what you did, a little voice in my head whispered. She didn't treat me like a criminal, but if I had to make a wager I would say she only thought I got locked up for petty thievery. I didn't talk to anyone and if I did it was a quiet whisper, I wasn't very violent except when trying to protect someone, and I generally kept to myself and didn't tell anyone anything. Everyone else knew though. I heard the whispers and saw the stares. Bellamy used it to his advantage once everyone told him that one of the most brutal murderers around was crushing on his little sister. I was pulled out of my thoughts by someone's hand on my shoulder. I jumped back slightly before seeing the concern on Octavia's face, "Hey, it's just me." She smiled at me reassuringly and I nodded back, trying to push the memories back into my head and focus on her. "Getting ready to go to work?" She asked and I nodded, smiling slightly. "I think Bell mentioned something about you going out to hunt and map today." Worry flashed in her eyes as she saw the hesitancy in mine. "If you don't want to I can tell him to change your job assignment?" I shook my head quickly before whispering, "It's fine." I gestured for her to wait before I stepped into my tent and pulled on my jacket and grabbed my various knives and weapons I usually used on hunts. When I walked back out she not so subtly checked me out, "Like what ya see?" I asked in a moment of confidence. She giggled and nodded before pecking my lips, "That I do." I blushed, shocked, but she just smiled. "I know we're not exactly official yet. Are you okay with me being affectionate?" She asked and I nodded back to her before leaning up and pulling her into a longer kiss, "I am very okay with it." She laced her fingers through mine with a grin on her face and we walked over to where Bellamy stood towards the side of the dropship. "Hey, um, job assignment?" I asked, not making eye contact and voice shaky. "Hunt and map. Head out, (Y/N). I need to talk to Octavia." He glared at me as he usually did and pulled her aside. I walked far enough away to still hear them and listened. "She's a criminal, Octavia."

"They're all criminals, Bellamy." She most likely rolled her eyes after that and I felt something odd in my stomach when I realized she was defending me. "I'm trying to protect you. Stay away from her."

"I don't need protecting. Especially not from her." She growled and he sighed, "My sister, my responsibility. You don't need to be hanging around people that were locked up for very violent crimes." She laughed at him, so oblivious to the fact that he was right, "Violent? Sure. Leave her alone, Bellamy. I'll date who I want."

"She's going to hurt you. I promise you that." I felt my heart drop at his words and my hands shook as I ran out of the camp to do my job for the day. I came home later that night and went straight to bed, avoiding everyone, most importantly Octavia. This continued for multiple days. I would avoid her, get my job assignment, and head straight back into my tent afterwards. After about four days of not talking to her I walked out into the woods and sat on a stump, looking out at the lake. I heard a branch snap close by and froze before turning around and seeing Bellamy. I turned back around and hoped he would go away, but he didn't, instead sitting next to me. "You finally decided to leave my sister alone, eh?" I nodded, clenching my fists in my lap. "Probably a good thing. You are a murderer. I'm trying to protect her from people like you. She never did anything wrong. She was just.. born. All I've ever wanted was to protect her." I looked over at him and saw his eyes tear up a bit before his jaw clenched and he glared back into my eyes. I turned my head quickly and stared back at the lake. "I respect you for taking my advice. I hope you continue doing that. If you care about her, you'll do what's right." He stood up and walked off quietly back to camp. I didn't leave until it had started getting dark and did the usual routine of walking straight to my tent. I locked eyes with Octavia for a quick second as she sat at the fire, hanging out with a few of the delinquents that were still up and around. I watched her stare at me sadly before walking into my tent and pulling my jacket off. I began to kick my boots off before she walked in behind me, "Why are you avoiding me?" I shrugged and sat on my bed, looking up at her. It hurt me to watch her be so upset. "Is it.. Is it because of Bellamy..?"
