"Hey, Pam!" One of my coworkers waved with a cheerful smile on her face. I put up my normal happy facade, but in reality humans were so not my thing. Well, most humans anyway. I sighed and leaned back in my chair thinking of the bubbly blonde that made me question everything. Sadly, this was something I had to do. Whether I liked to admit it or not, the mayhem became less fun when Harley wasn't tagging along. I remember that last night in Gotham so vividly.

"What the hell do you mean leaving?" Selina spat at me. I rolled my eyes and stared into hers before sighing, "Like you care? We're at each others throat most of the time." She crossed her arms in front of her chest and shook her head, "What about her? What about Harley?" I felt a pang in my chest. "How dare you. You think I hadn't thought about this? You honestly think I wouldn't have thought about her?"

"You sicken me, Pamela Isley." She mumbled. "Kitty! Where are ya?" I froze when I heard her voice. I think it hit me at that moment why I was leaving. I felt tears well in my eyes and shook them away. "Goodbye, Selina."

With that last goodbye, I left everything behind. I moved to a city where no one knew me as Poison Ivy. I was just plain, Pamela Isley. The girl who everyone knew from their med classes and now, working at the emergency room. This is what I wanted. I liked to pretend that the feelings faded. I really did, but at the mere mention or thought of the woman I had come to love, I knew why I left. I left because I felt something for her. I left because deep down I knew I would most likely hurt her. "Isley to room fifteen! Patient in critical condition." I half jogged down the hallway to where I was directed, seeing my superior standing in front of me. "Wonderful to see you, Pamela. Jane Doe here is in a pretty terrible condition." His slicked back hair and snarky attitude caused the deep hatred I had for him. I glanced at the clipboard he handed me before looking at the patient in front of me. She was hooked up to so many monitors and cords, but I knew exactly who was lying in front of me. Harleen Quinzell, but everyone calls her Harley. "Can you handle it?" He sighed, checking his watch, "I'm out in a minute and a half." I felt anger rush through me, but plastered a smile on my face. "Yes, sir." I stared at her as he left, becoming mesmerized by her features once again. It wasn't long before I heard two police officers having conversation from behind me. "Why'd ya tell him Jane Doe?"

"I couldn't exactly tell him she was Harley Quinn."

"No one knows about Gotham criminals here." I heard a chuckle, "Maybe we should let her off easy. She did manage to finally get rid of Joker." I heard some laughter as they made their way down the hallway. I heard a groan and saw Harley wincing in pain. "Where am I?" She mumbled as she rolled over. Her condition was way past critical. I hated saying it, but I knew what I had to do. Poison Ivy is back in town. I walked to the break room and took a small vial out of my purse that I kept for.. You know.. 'emergencies'. Taking a clean needle and being careful to make sure she didn't see the shot, I injected her with the same compound I had all those years ago upon our first meeting. Fairly quickly her vitals went back to normal and she awoke as I tried removing some of the different machinery and IVs she no longer needed. "Whadda ya think, Doc? Am I gonna make it?"

"Actually, yes, but I'm rather interested in the story you have for me about how you ended up in my emergency room." With my back turned to her I waited patiently before hearing a soft giggle, "Ex problems."

"Tell me more." I couldn't help the genuine smile that spread across my face. "Well, ya see, he happened to hurt a very special friend of mine. Or so I was told anyway. And I was upset. So the relationship went Kaboom!" She provided her own sound effects and I turned to face her. She stared at me for a moment before I saw her eyes go wide. "Was t-there something in that medicine, D-doc? I think I-i'm seeing things." She chewed on her bottom lip before I shook my head. "What do you see?"
