Anathema by twenty one pilots

"(Y/N)!" Lexa called for me. I heard her use what I had begun to call her 'commander voice' and realized it must mean business. I straightened my armor and walked out of my tent, "Yes, Heda?" I asked formally, watching her lips twitch to form a small smile before her face turned emotionless once more. "See that Clarke is shown to her tent. And tomorrow she wishes to see the waterfall so she may collect the medicinal seaweed." I nodded and began to turn away before Lexa placed a hand on my shoulder, smiling at me. "Thank you, (Y/n)." She whispered, squeezing my shoulder a bit. "No problem, Lex." I whispered back, careful not to let anyone hear the informalities between the two of us. I then turned to see a blonde girl around my age and looked back at Lexa who simply smirked at me, raising an eyebrow. Goddamn her and her stupid matchmaking. I stared into the blonde's eyes, "Clarke kom Skaikru. Yes?" She nodded, biting her lip out of nervousness, as she stared up at me. Of course I knew who she was, I had seen her many a time in the camp and just watched the way she moved. She was a very beautiful girl, I'll give her that. "Come." I nodded in the direction of the open tents and she followed behind me quietly. Her eyes reminded me of the sky, which is fitting because she.. Well she quite literally fell from the stars. She would hardly glance at me and when she did she looked almost in awe of me. "Do all of you wear warpaint like that?" I nodded, "It is the grounder's choice as to what his or her warpaint looks like, but the majority of us wear it yes." I led her into an empty tent, "Here is where you will stay. I can show you to the waterfall in the morning if you wish, or I can find someone who you would prefer if you don't." She turned towards me, "No, I would like you to show me." She stood in front of me, a couple inches shorter than I was, and smiled. "Find me in my tent in the morning. Ask around, someone will show you." She looked me up and down before I turned to leave the tent, "But I don't know your name." I glanced back at her over my shoulder, "(Y/N). My name is (Y/N)." I made my way back to my tent with half a mind to find Lexa and ask her what her motives were. For someone who preaches "Love is weakness." she sure is concerned with my love life. When I reached my tent I pulled off my armor and clothes, too exhausted to put on pajamas, and climbed into bed. The next morning I was awoken to quiet whispering, "Uh.. (Y/N)? Should I just let you sleep..?" She asked quietly and I rolled over to see her standing above me. "No. You're fine." I stood up, reaching for my clothes. She blushed and looked over my half naked body before turning away, "I'll er.. Wait outside.. Sorry.." I smirked at her, raising an eyebrow, before she hurried out of my tent. I chuckled to myself, putting on my armor and war paint, before meeting her outside. "Come on. We can't waste the daylight." I led her out of the camp and through the forest. "It's beautiful out here.." I smiled, closing my eyes as the sunlight hit my face. "Mhm.." She hummed, staring at me and smiling. "The waterfall is just up here.. Mind if I go for a swim?" I asked her. She shook her head and I grinned, racing her through the forest, "Better catch up, sky girl!" I yelled, my laughter echoing through the forest and she laughed along. We got to the waterfall and I stripped before climbing in the cool water. "You can join me, yanno?"

"I almost saw my friend get eaten by something in the water last time we decided to swim. I'm okay."

"Suit yourself." I grinned, pulling her into the water, "You bitch!" She screamed as the water soaked her clothes. Soon the screaming and shoving turned into playful laughter and splashing each other. "See! You're having fun, Clarke. Admit it!" I smiled at her and she rolled her eyes before shoving me back into the water. I opened my eyes underneath the water and looked up at her smiling. What I wouldn't give to live in this moment with her forever, but the darkness was slowly starting to take over. "We should get headed back soon. Grab the seaweed and I'll walk you back to either camp." She looked confused at my sudden change in tone, but agreed anyway. "I need to get headed back to my camp with the seaweed." I nodded and walked her back, silent the whole way. She waved at me as she made her way through the gates and I smiled half-heartedly back at her. I turned to make my way back to camp, "Love is weakness." I mumbled to myself over and over again. I saw Clarke a lot after that, practically everywhere it seemed. Lexa would always give me a certain look when Clarke was around, especially after she caught me staring at her in wonder. "Fuck off.." I would always mumble, causing Lexa to laugh quietly before returning to her duties as Commander. She even began to haunt my dreams, making me wonder why she had to have walked into my life. Can't she torture someone else's thoughts and dreams and invade someone else's head. In my head, I kept trying to push Clarke away and make he stay away from me. I had to protect her, but I kept falling for her. "(Y/N). Walk Clarke back to her camp. That's an order." Lexa smirked at me, turning with a whirl of her cape as I stood face to face with Clarke. We made little conversation as I led her through the darkness of the forest. When we got to the gate I pause at the entry like I usually do but she looked up at me hesitantly, as if questioning her next move. Something in the way she looked at me had changed over the course of us knowing each other. She bit her lip out of nervousness and reached down, lacing our fingers together, "Come with me.." She whispered and I looked at her for a moment before mumbling back a quiet okay, following her to her tent. When the curtain closed behind me she pulled me down closer to her and kissed me roughly. I kissed her back and moved my hands to her waist and she quickly pulled my armor off of my body. "Are you sure you want this?" I whispered in between rough kisses, "I've never been more sure of anything in my whole life." She whispered back, staring at me with her deep blue eyes, a smirk plastered on her face. That night was filled with relieving a bunch of bottled up emotions towards one another and as she laid in my arms afterwards I waited for her to say goodnight before I could say goodbye and leave. I love her, this much is true, but I would not let her get hurt by me. She laid her head down on my chest, her body against mine, before closing her eyes and whispering her goodnights. I kissed her lips gently before placing another kiss on her forehead as she drifted off to sleep. Once I was sure she was asleep I got up and quickly pulled my armor on before leaving for my own camp. When I walked in the gates I made eye contact with Lexa and quickly looked away, my smile dropping from my face. The next few days were spent on long hunts to try and occupy my mind. "Stop.." I whispered to my army as we got closer to the Reaper cave. I looked around at the prisoners they kept, all grounders except one. Her eyes looked into mine for a brief second and I couldn't mistake them for anyone else's. "We have to recuse those prisoners."

"(Y/N) I know you trained with our commander, but there is too many. It's a death wish. A suicide mission." I looked back at my men before sighing softly, "Fine. Leave. I will do this on my own." They all stared at me for a moment before turning and making their way back to camp. I only had one mission and that was to save the girl I loved. I ran into the camp, killing the two guards by the door quickly. I slowly advanced towards where they kept the prisoners, killing with no mercy. Soon I reached the room holding the prisoners that was guarded by the last four reapers. Clarke was passed out in the corner of the room and I looked towards her before killing the first Reaper, jumping over his body and killing the other three. After checking that there were no more I sheathed my sword and picked Clarke up, hurrying to carry her back to camp. I ran straight into camp and back to my tent where I laid her down on the bed and began to clean her wounds. Lexa soon walked in and hugged me tightly, "The other came back to apologize for what they thought was my loss. You took on eight grounders without anyone near you. Must you be so reckless?!" She checked me over, but I only stared at Clarke. "It was for the girl, yes?" Lexa asked as we both stood. I nodded and sighed, "But love is weakness, Lexa. What do I do?" She shook her head and looked at me, "I've been your best friend since the day we were born. You were there for me during my relationship with Costia. I know you will be there for me come a day there is another. It is my time to be there for you." I looked down at Clarke and back to Lexa, seeing her smile, "Love is weakness until you find a love that becomes your strength. I may not know many things, (Y/N), but I do know that the other half of your heart is asleep in your bed because you saved her today. Be grateful." She hugged me tightly before walking out of the room. I sat in the chair across from the bed and watched as Clarke slept soundly. She opened her eyes and stared at me, "(Y/N).. You.. You saved me.. Why?" I walked closer to her and sat down next to where she laid, "Because I am in love with you, Clarke kom Skaikru." I brushed the blonde hair out of her magical blue eyes and smiled down at her, tears threatening to escape my eyes. She smiled brightly and pulled me down to her to kiss me gently, "I'm in love with you too, (Y/N)." She whispered against my lips, before pulling me down to lay with her.
