"Will you help me carry this stuff in?" Clarke asked as we climbed out of the moving truck, her parents close behind. "No, I thought I'd just sit back and let you do it." I smirked at her and she hit my shoulder as I opened the back of the truck, pulling out my guitar. "I hate you." She picked up her easel and started to carry it in before realizing I had the key to our new house, "What was that?" I raised an eyebrow, holding them high above her head as she sighed in defeat, "You are my absolute bestest friend and I love you so so much. I don't know what I would do without you (Y/N)." I grinned at her and she looked at me expectantly, "Now, open the damn door." I laughed and unlocked the door before walking inside, "I love you too, Clarke." She set it down in our living room before walking back out to get one of her paint sets. When she walked back in I took the paint from her and looked down to see her hands covered in color and thought of the first day we met.
The Griffins moved into the house next to mine when I was six years old and that's a day I will never forget. That was the day I met my best friend and, a while down the road, the girl I loved with every piece of me. Although, she didn't know that part and she probably never would. I was sitting in my front yard reading a new comic book that my brother had brought home when she climbed out of the moving truck with a set of paints in her hands. She seemed shy, not really looking anywhere but straight down or ahead of her. I would soon come to realize my first impression was correct. The paint that covered her hands and arms fascinated me and I wanted to know everything about that girl. Days later she would approach me and introduce herself as Clarke Griffin. Her name rolled off my tongue like a song and from that second our eyes met we were inseparable. Everything from our first middle school dance to our high school graduation was spent with her and I didn't want it any other way.
I ran my thumb along the outline of a picture of us just a couple years before. She was sitting on my shoulders kissing my cheek and I was smiling like an idiot, which was basically the default setting I had whenever she was around. Jake smiled at us from the doorway as Clarke looked over my shoulder at the picture in my hands, "I remember that day. That's one of my favorites." I nodded in agreement because I lost all words I could've said the moment I looked into her deep blue eyes. "Come on. Mom and dad bought us pizza. Our favorite." I nodded and let her lead me to the kitchen after I stuck the photo back on my nightstand. "So, how's school going?" Abby asked us both eagerly. Clarke brushed her off with a shrug and shoving her pizza in her mouth. "Well, it doesn't start until tomorrow. So, you know, horrible." Abby rolled her eyes at her daughter and turned to me, "What about you? Excited?"
"Ecstatic." I responded, getting up to grab a soda. I grabbed Clarke's favorite and threw it at her, not noticing the pale blush on her cheeks. Abby must have though. You could almost tell in the exchanged glances. Jake cleared his throat and looked at me, "Hey, (Y/N), help me pack up the truck for the movers?" I followed him out the door, not before hearing Clarke's embarrassed anger and Abby's knowing confidence. "So, are you and Clarke gonna be okay here by yourselves?" Jake smiled at me and I groaned in response, "We've lived on our own for months now. We're just starting college. Thank you for buying us the house though. She was freaked out by maybe having to be away from me." He shook his head and chuckled, "If you only knew." He mumbled before Abby walked out of the house, Clarke leaning against the doorway and glaring at her father before her eyes landed on me, "What were you two talking about?"
"Oh, nothing, just how you're madly in love with me." I joked, but everyone around me stopped. "I'm just kidding, Griffin. Damn.. tough crowd." Clarke hit me as I walked in the door, both of us waving to her parents as they left. "You're an ass." She groaned, cleaning up the dishes off of our table. "And you're a bitch. What are we doing now? Stating the obvious?" She rolled her eyes again and we saw the sky getting darker. "Movies?"
