Chapter 36

KYRA's POV
I woke up and saw Amber and Madalyn in my bedroom. I then realized that it was my birthday! I quickly, but quietly, hopped out of bed and scurried over to my closet. I picked out the cutest outfit that I could find in my dimly lit closet.
It was a floral print skater skirt, a white blouse, and a pastel flower crown. I decided to curl my hair, because naturally straight hair was boring.
As I finished getting ready, I heard talking coming from my bedroom. I secured my hair into my flower crown with a couple of bobby pins and walked into my room. I found Amber and Madalyn talking as they finished up their makeup.
"Hey," I said, walking behind them and facing the mirror in the vanity.
"Good morning, Ky," they both said in sync as they finished their mascara.
"What are we doing today?" I asked, completely oblivious to the whole situation, other than the fact that my 4 best friends were here.
"It's a surprise," Madalyn said, moving her hands back and forth in a weird, almost hypnotic, way.
"You guys ready?" Scott asked, walking into my bedroom without even knocking.
"Yeah," I said, "But the real question is, is Mitch ready?"
"Probably not," he said, "But Kev and Esther micromanaged every single second of today and put together a plan to make sure that we could do everything that they wanted to do."
"You guys ready yet?" Mitch's high pitched voice rang though the hall. He walked into my room and came to stand by the vanity with me. He looked at himself in the mirror, pulled his makeup-on-the-go kit out of his Gucci bag, and reapplied his eyeliner.
"All done!" He said like he had in the vine about him painting his nails.
"Come on guys!" Avi yelled from downstairs.
We made our way down the narrow stairs in a wide herd.
When we got outside I started to walk to the car, but Dad jumped out and put a blindfold on me.
"Hey!" I squealed, "Take this off!"
"But that would take away from the surprise!" Dad squealed back in a mocking tone. He picked me up bridal style (oh the cliché😂) and carried me to the car.
The car ride was about 15 minutes long. We stopped and my friends tried to guide me inside of a building.
We got into a room and I heard everyone whispering behind me. They took my blindfold off and I was in a... Recording studio?
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Well, two things," Mitch said.
"You know how we asked you what your favorite song was?" Avi asked.
"Yeah," I said, "And I said Cheerleader by Omi."
"Yeah, well... Well... Just look at the computer screen."
I looked at the computer screen and a YouTube video was pulled up.
I clicked play and the words Cheerleader by Omi cover by Pentatonix.
"No way!" I screamed.
I watched the whole video and I loved it!
"That was awesome!" I said, "But why did you need to have it played in a recording studio?"
"That is the other part of the surprise," Dad said, "You and your friends get to record This is What Happy Feels Like for our new album!"
"OH MY GOSH!!!!!" I screamed, "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!"
"You're welcome!" He said, smiling with excitement in his eyes.

We recorded for a few hours until we finally got it perfect. We took a hour long break to eat lunch before we got to editing.
We had about 5 minutes left of our break when I decided to run to the bathroom.
"I'm going to run to the bathroom real fast," I said as I stepped out of the room that we were in.
My phone was filling up with Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook notifications. There were a bunch of likes and comments on my post about being at RCA Records recording a special surprise for the Pentaholics.
I went to the bathroom, reapplied my foundation, and walked out of the bathroom towards the booth that we were recording in. Before I could get a step out of the door, I felt a gag being shoved in my mouth and a bag being put over my head.
"Hello, sweetie," that disgusting, menacing, spine-tingling voice.
My old foster father.

I know! I know! I'm a horrible author!!! Kyra can't catch a break, can she? Well, I'm very sorry for being gone for a while, but I'm trying to update more consistently!
