From the top

It was now end of shift, Lucy was with Angela and Nyla changing in the locker room. They could both tell Lucy was stressing about going back to Tim's. They had agreed to tell his mom about their relationship issues tonight so that Lucy could go back to Angela's without it seeming suspicious

"Lu don't worry, I'm sure she will understand." Nyla reassured her.

"Well whether she likes it or not it's happened," Lucy shrugged trying to seem unbothered.

The three walked out together and met Tim. Angela had to drop them back as they came in her car this morning.

The drive was quiet, Lucy kept picking at the skin around her nails. She remembered how long it took for Tim's mom to like her and now she would probably go back to hating her.

"Right Lu I'll pick you up later, message me ok darling," Angela said as they pulled up outside the house.

"Thanks Ange, I'll see you later."

Lucy and Tim walked up to the front door and took a deep breath before going in. Tim's mom was sat on the sofa watching tv.

"Hello you two, did you have good days?" Joy asked.

"Could've been better," Lucy laughed as she took her shoes off.

"Where's Tamara at?"

"Mom I'm not going to lie we have a few things we need to tell you," Tim smiled awkwardly,

"Quite a lot actually," Lucy tried to make a joke to soften the blow.

"Oh right, now I'm worried."

"Mom it's nothing to worry about,"

Lucy and Tim joined his mom on the sofa, it was quite awkward for a second until Tim spoke.

"I don't really know where to start to be honest," he said.

"Shall we just take it from the top?" Lucy suggested.

"Go on then,"

"So um basically me and Tim are actually divorced and have been for around a year and a half,"

"Oh right, can I ask how come?"

"You can ask anything, we kind of hit a rough patch in our marriage I would say." Lucy began and then looked at Tim.

"Most of our arguments were about tam, and I'll be honest it's because we both had very different ideas of how to parent a teenager. I would say I wasn't very helpful with disciplining tam." Tim continued.

"Tam had started to really act out at school and honestly she hated me because I was the only one telling her off."

"So eventually I decided I wanted a divorce which was one of the worse decisions I ever made." Tim admitted.

Lucy couldn't make eye contact with him.

"So that's why Tim's moved into this place and I actually live with Angela now, because we used to argue really badly."

"Wait so you guys aren't back together?" Joy asked confused.

"We are but taking things very slow so Lucy still lives with Angela and tam lives with me,"

"Oh right,"

"Well after the divorce I kind of went crazy, I'm not going to sugar coat it. It was really bad and I almost lost my job multiple times because I was always lashing out at people and was quite violent. I hurt all the people I loved because of how I was." Lucy started to get upset.

"Lucy it's alright, I promise I'm not judging you," she rubbed Lucy's arm.

"I started drinking loads and then we also found out Tamara started using, we ended up sending her away to get better and she was there for quite a few months."
