21 - Beside You

-Maya's POV-

There's a mini bus that comes to get us. I walk into the bus and almost sit next to Luke, then realize I can't.

Luke has started avoiding me. He doesn't make eye contact with me anymore. This is hurting me more than you can imagine.

I sit next to Michael and Ashton. Dahlia is next to Luke. She's been helping me stay away from him, but I wish I didn't have to.

I frown and look down at my hands as the bus leaves.

"What's wrong?" Michael whispers, looking down at me.

"Nothing, I'm fine," I smile at him in return.

"Maya.."

"It's just... I don't know. Everything? It doesn't matter. I'm fine," I bite my lip quickly glancing at Luke, then looking away.

"Maya, it's only a few weeks."

"I know," I look at Michael, "it's just hard to not be with the one you love. Especially when you have to stop talking with them."

"Yeah, I know the feeling."

Wait what.

We arrive at the place for breakfast, and let me say, this isn't a place you'd get Vegemite.

"What is this?" I point to an item on the menu.

"I don't even know and it's scaring me," Dahlia says from her side of the table.

"Don't get it. It looks like it's still alive," Michael adds.

"Who would eat this. It's like.. Goo," Ashton mumbles looking at the menu.

We are at an amazingly fancy breakfast place.

Calum and Victoria aren't here yet...

"Hey guys. You all look like," The evil thing has arrived, "like. Uh. Hmm. I don't know."

"Thanks?" I reply.

"You are all like so punk rock, it's kinda scary."

No one replies to her.

"Victoria come sit here," Calum ushers her to a seat that's between his and Ashton's. She is directly across from Dahlia. This can't be good.

"So how's everything?" She asks looking at Luke.

"Oh, um," He mumbles looking up from the menu, "alright I guess."

We all sit around deciding what to order.

I look up to see Calum kissing Victoria's cheek, with Dahlia staring.

"Oh..." I hear a familiar British voice mumble from near Luke.

"Matt?" Luke questions, noticing him. 

"Luke..."

"Hey..."

"I'm sorry for-"

"Just forget about it."

"You know what? I don't even care anymore. You are still the stupid kid I remember."

Luke just stands up and walks away.

I feel an urge to go talk to him but, Dahlia gives me a warning look as she goes to talk to him.

"Nice one Matt," Dahlia stands up. She runs after Luke, with me wishing I was her.

I just stare at my hands while other people around me are getting mad at Matt.
