44 - I Love You Too

>Maya's POV<

My uncle just woke me up.

I check my phone to see a text from Luke from four hours ago. I open my phone to see what it says.

It was four words long.

'I love you too.'

I get another text almost immediately after seeing the first one from a while ago,

'I'm so sorry for not saying it at the airport. I just wanted you to know my reason. It's that I never want to say goodbye to you. And I believe that saying I love you is the same things as saying goodbye when you're leaving.'

I decide to respond, 'It's okay, I understand.'

'Really?'

'Mmhm'

'Our plane landed a while ago, I fell asleep once we got to our tour bus. I just wanted to say that I love you and I miss you.'

'I love you too. But you should get some more sleep.'

'I don't want to.'

'Please?'

'But it means leaving you. I don't wanna do that.'

'I'll be here when you wake up.'

'Okay...'

'I'll talk to you later.'

'Will you call me?'

'Of course.'

'Okay, see you later.'

'See you later.'

I grab a hoodie I bought while we were in London and some ripped jeans and get changed.

I put on my makeup and side braid my hair.

Three words can make a girl feel better.

Three words can change your life.

Those three words are everything.

They are 'I love you.'

"Guess what I brought with me!" Uncle Tyler says while walking into the living room.

"What?"

"Mario Kart!"

I laugh and Dahlia laughs while rolling her eyes.

We start playing the game for a while.

It ends with Uncle in first place, me second and Dahlia last.

Dahlia and Uncle Tyler wanted to go do something together. It was something about childhood stuff.

I'm just in my room staring at my phone.

I get a text from Aaron, 'Hey Maya, how are you?'

'I'm alright. You?'

'Are you really?'

'Well... I'm obviously sad. But he texted me.'

'That's good, bet he misses you too.'

'He's just so sweet. I love him :)'

'He's lucky'

'No, I'm the lucky one. I don't deserve him.'

'Idk about that. In my opinion, he must've done something amazing to make a girl as great you love him. Idk.'

'No, no. You see, falling in love isn't about someone doing something amazing. It's about being able to see yourself in a million years with them. I love him because he makes me feel special, like I can conquer the world. He didn't have to do anything amazing, he just had to be himself.'
