Another Face in the Crowd

YOUR POV

I smiled at my best friend, lying in the hospital bed, her pink hair plastered to her forehead from sweat, holding a bundle of cloth with a little girl. Kawaii~Chan sat, taking deep breaths through her nose, her mouth was smiling.

Dante's face showed how relieved he was that Kawaii~Chan and the baby were both okay. He stood next to Kawaii~Chan with a hand on her shoulder, looking down at his little girl.

"Nekoette~Tan is so cute! Kawaii~Chan is tired, but it was worth it."

"Yeah. My gosh Kawaii~Chan. She's beautiful." Dante squeezed her hand.

"So Nekoette~Tan doesn't need any more special care?"

"Not that we know of," Dante answered.

I looked over to the curtains that separated us from the doorway. Kawaii~Chan must have seen me, because she said. "(E/C)~Senpai, it's okay to let Laurence~Kun and Garroth~Kun in now."

I nodded and walked over to the door.

GARROTH'S POV

Laurence and I were still sitting out in the hall, when (E/C)'s head poked through the door.

"You guys can come in now."

We immediately stood up and followed (E/C) into the room.

When we got in, we closed the door and pulled the curtain aside, revealing the whole group. Kawaii~Chan's eyes were closed.

The IVs that were connected to her were quietly humming. Dante was sitting on a couch next to Kawaii~Chan's bed, holding a little bundle of cloth. Laurence took his place next to Aphmau by a counter on the opposite side of the room.

(E/C) grabbed my hand and pulled me over to where Dante was sitting with the sleeping Nekoette. I sit down next to Dante and (E/C) sat on my lap.

Dante held little Nekoette~Tan in one arm, and moved the blanket from her face with the other. Her sweet face poked through the blanket. Dante was gently looking down at her

"AWWW!" I kept the thought in my head, but I still thought it.

"Dante... She's adorable." I said, trying to put my feelings into words.

When Dante looked up, the grin on his face told me how proud he was of his girls. Both Kawaii~Chan and Nekoette.

"Dante, may I?" (E/C) stood up. Dante nodded and held Nekoette out to her.

(E/C) gently held the little infant. She sat down on the couch again while Dante went to get a drink of water and go on a short walk. I pulled her close to me, both of us looking at Nekoette.

"Two more months," I whispered, "And then we'll have two of them! Finn and Ophelia... and they'll be even cuter, 'cause they'll look like you."

She was blushing and she turned to face me. Her silver hair fell over her shoulder as she turned to me. I stared into her red eyes.

"Garroth, I'm excited. But I'm also kind of nervous."

I sighed. "I was kind of afraid of that."

"I was nervous before Kawaii~Chan. Don't worry. It's normal for me, I think... Anyway, Kawaii~Chan and Nekoette just made me more excited. I'm just worried that... what if I'm not ready to be "mom". I mean, my father doesn't even know where I am, much less that he'll have two grandchildren in two months! I mean, he doesn't even know I'm alive."

I sighed again. "I know what you mean. Being a father is going to be... different. It's going to be a lot of work. But I bet Finn and Ophelia will be fine. They'll love their grandfather and uncles."

"Grandfathers." (E/C) corrected me.

I shook my head sadly. "No. My father was killed by the shadow-lord last week. It's okay though. He deserved it. He was a monster."

(E/C) squeezed my arm with her free hand. She looked at me with sad eyes. "I'm sorry Garroth..."

I sighed. "3, 2, 1..." A look of realization crossed onto her face.

"Wait. Your father is dead, meaning no Lord of Okasis. Garroth, oh my Irene. That means..."

"Yeah. I'm the Lord of Okasis now. It sounds weird, I know."

"Oh my Irene. Garroth, what are we going to do?"

"I don't know (E/C), I don't know."

YOUR POV

"Oh my Irene, Oh my Irene... "

Garroth is the Lord of Okasis now. How is this going to play out?

We stayed in Metalli for a few days before Kawaii~Chan and Nekoette~Tan were released and we could go home.

"Oh! Kawaii~Chan is so excited to show little Nekoette~Tan her new home! Kawaii~Chan thinks Nekoette~Tan is going to love it! What do you think (E/C)~Senpai?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah. I think she'll love it."

"(E/C)~Senpai, what's wrong?"

I didn't want her to know about Okasis. I put on my best smile, but I knew everyone could tell it was fake. "Nothing! Garroth and I are just so happy for you and Dante! I was just thinking about the twins! They'll be here in two months you know!"

"Yeah... okay. Well if (E/C)~Senpai wants to talk to Kawaii~Chan about anything, than let her know."

I nodded and gave her another fake smile. Kawaii~Chan just had a baby; she doesn't need the burden of my problems.

I squeezed Garroth's hand and pulled him through the hospital doors towards the tavern doors. When we entered, I immediately saw Laurence and Aphmau.

They waved to us and we went and sat down by them. Garroth and I pulled up a couple chairs to their table and sat down.

They looked at each other and then faced us. Laurence grabbed Garroth's arm and dragged him over to a corner nearby. Aphmau and I watched them and then she grabbed me by the arm. I looked over at her.

"What's going on?"
