In Okasis (Part 4)

ZANE'S POV

I woke up around 6. I got out of bed and headed into the bathroom. I took a cold shower, causing all the blue dye to drip out of my hair. Once I was done in my shower, I started thinking about the girl from the last few days. We had been hanging out lately and she was super nice.

"I wonder what her name is. She said I'd find out soon. Maybe today's the day."

I threw on some of my regular clothes and headed outside of my room. As I walked down the halls, memories came flooding back from when Garroth, Vylad, and I were kids. How Garte would tickle us to the point where we couldn't breathe, we were laughing so hard. Were we climbed all over him, while our mother watched us play around.

I stepped outside the castle's front door and the girl's back was to me. I walked up behind her. She was muttering to a purple communication amulet in her hand, probably meaning that she was talking to someone. I knew I shouldn't have, but I listened to her any way.

"Ugh! I really like Zane, not like the other Lords. Why is this so difficult? I know the plan, father. Get to know him, get him to fall for me, find out his secrets, break his heart. The end. I've never actually fallen for the lord. They always fell for me. Not the other way around... No sir. I haven't figured out any secrets yet..."

I stared at her back confused. I told her about how important my family was to me, last night. Was she truly falling for me? Was I falling for her?

I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I'd talk to her about it later.

I placed both my hands on her forearms.

She jumped and let out a tiny scream.

"Ha! Don't worry, it's just me." I said to her. I let go of her arms.

"Oh, Zane. I was go- WOAH! Wow! Your hair!"

"Huh? Oh! Yeah, I forgot you didn't know what I really looked like."

She nodded. "Yeah. It looks great!"

I smiled. I was glad she approved.

"SENSE WHEN DID I START CARING??????????? IT'S NOT LIKE SHE'S FAMILY?"

"But she could be."

"Or, she could be just be a very good actress. WAIT, WHAT? WHO ARE YOU?"

" A voice inside your head. DUH!"

"WHAT? And what do you me-"

"Umm, Zane?" Her voice snapped me out of it.

"Oh, sorry." I muttered.

"So, I told you I'd tell you who I was soon, right?"

I looked at her. Her eyes met mine and we kind of just stared at each other for a while. I don't know how long we stood there like that, but it felt like hours.

"Right..." He broke the silence.

"Well, if you want to know, you'll have to do something pre-tty amazing for me to tell you." I said. I wasn't just going to tell him. I'll have him "chase" after me.

"Oh, I do now?" He raised his eyebrows at me.

I smiled. "Yep. So what are we going to do today?"

"Well, what do you want to do?"

I thought for a minute. What would make this boy fall for me?

"You want to go swimming?"

"Huh? Sure! Do you want to meet me down at the docks in like a half-hour?"
