NICOLE'S POV
"What about Garroth?!?"
(Y/n) crumpled to the floor in tears.
"(Y/n)? My Irene... Lydia, take (Y/n) to her room I'm going to have a... word with my family."
Lydia nodded and bowed before helping (Y/n) off the floor.
I shook my head. Why would Father lie to me? No, he lies a lot. But Ashton? Ashton is a horrible person, but he's always been honest...
I stomped down the hall in my high-heels. I hated wearing them and dresses, but my mother insists.
I stormed into the dining room where my family was waiting.
My mother was fixing her hair in a hand-held mirror. My father was counting how much money was in his pockets, while Ashton stared down at his plate.
Maybe he feels guilty?
"Ah, Nicole! My Princess!" My mother stood up and hugged me. I pecked her cheek.
"Mother, may I talk with father and Ashton? Alone?"
I saw her confused and added with a smile, "It may or may not be about your birthday present!"
My mother smiled before nodding. "I'll be back in 15 minutes. Make it fast."
I gave her a fake smile. "I'll do my best..."
She kissed my forehead before leaving the room, 3 maids following her.
I turned to Ashton and my father.
They have some explaining to do.
YOUR POV
Lydia took me back to my room. "I'm sorry, Miss, but I have other chores I must complete. Will you be okay on your own?"
I nodded before Lydia left the room. I sat down on the bed and stared at the door. I don't know how long passed. Hours, minutes, seconds? However long it was, it felt like a couple long, lonely hours to me.
I stood up and walked to the door. I reached out and grabbed onto the cold handle, before turning it slowly. I pulled open the door and stepped out into the hallway.
Maids still hustled around, but not as many as before.
"Umm, excuse me, could you please show me the way to the front door?"
The older maid I had asked squinted at me. "What is your name Mam?"
"Umm, (Y/n)."
She shook her head. "Mam, I would love to help, but we have been given strict orders to not give anyone by the name of "(Y/n)" the directions to the front door."
I frowned. They really went through all of that, just so I wouldn't leave?
"Umm, I just wanted some fresh air."
The maid nodded. "In that case, follow me."
I followed her up a flight of stairs.
She opened a pair of glass doors and motioned for me to step through them.
I walked through the door and was met by a nice cool breeze. "Thank you."
"It's no problem, Mam." The maid left the doors open and exit my line of vision.
In front of me laid a large balcony. A couple chairs along with a glass table stood on the balcony. In the middle of the table, a glass vase with a single rose in it, sat. Two lounge chairs along with a smaller table in between the two sat on the right.
I walked over to the table with the vase and picked up the single rose from the vase. I spun it around in between my two fingers and stared at it skeptically. Still observing the velvety flower in my hand, I walked over to the edge and leaned on the cold railing. I slowly looked down and silently gulped at the height I was at.
I looked at the flower again. I pinched one of the petals between two fingers before pulling on it. The petal peeled off of its center and remained in m fingers. I unclasped my fingers from the petal and watched it flutter to the ground far below.
"He's dead..."
The next petal fell.
"He's alive and this is just a messed up dream."
"He's dead..."
"He's alive..."
I did that four more times.
"He's alive..." I said as I watched the last petal flutter to the ground below.
Hey guys! It's Tori. So, there are three things. 1.) If you can't handle anything to do with depression, you might want to skip the rest of this chapter. 2.) Some of you are really confused with the layout of the story. So, basically, (Y/n) thinks that Garroth and the twins are really dead, but they're not. They are very well alive in Phoenix Drop, wondering where (Y/n) is. Serina slipped some powder into your lemonade that caused you to have that vision. 3.) Underlined is (Y/n)'s conscious, BOLD is shadow-(y/n), and regular italics is regular (Y/n).
Thanks!

Is he really alive?
Come on! Have some faith in our fiancé!
Who are you?
Yourself.
Oh. I saw Garroth dead with my own two eyes. How could he be alive?
I don't know! He's the man of our dreams! I thought he could do anything! Where's your faith?
My faith?
Yeah! Garroth will pull through, just watch!
I guess I should do my best to stop this wedding then. I won't ever love any man other than Garroth.
Then again, he might be dead.
WHAT?!? ARE YOU BI-POLAR OR SOMETHING?!?
I don't know! I'm you! What do you think?!?
"I think I'm going insane..." I mumbled. I looked at the ground below.
You could jump...
Oh, hey shadow-me.
Hello. But it's true. Then you could be certain Garroth is dead. Otherwise, you won't see him.
Wait, WHAT?!?
Shadow-(Y/n) has a point.
WHY ARE YOU AGREEING WITH HER?!?!?
Well, if Garroth truly is dead, then why suffer up here while you two can meet up below?
I see your point but-
But what? Let's do this!
WHY are you excited to DIE?!?
We get to see the love of our life again! Why AREN'T you excited?
My hands gripped onto the railing tighter. I moved my body until I was sitting on the edge of the railing.
The area below was clear, no one in sight.
I sighed.
Suppose we do die. What if Garroth isn't dead?
You saw him dead. You felt him for a pulse, a beat, a sign of life. There wasn't anything. He HAS to be dead.
What about Zane, Nicole, the twins, Andi, Aaro-
MAKE UP YOUR MIND, LADY!
I scooted even closer to the edge. I closed my eyes as a soft breeze blew some of my hair in my face. I took a deep breath before leaning forward.
