Getting Out

YOUR POV

Where are they?!?

It had been almost two hours sense Laurence passed out,  meaning that they had been in the Nether for almost 4 hours.

I hope everything is okay...

I knew as soon as they walked through that portal, I was going to faint.

I was sweating like crazy from the effort of keeping open the portal.

My legs were weak but I was afraid if I moved to much, that the portal would close.

I can't take this much longer. Where are you guys?!

ANDI'S POV

I rushed down the hallway and as soon as I saw the others, I started yelling to them.

"We have to go!" I shouted. "The guards will know Vylad is missing soon!"

At Vylad's name, Garroth perked up, looking for his long lost brother. When he saw him, he ran over and hugged him.

"Vylad!"

"Garroth!" Vylad hugged him back.

"Save the reunions for later. We have to go. There's still a climb."

Aphmau was still by Aaron. Her renewed red, puffy eyes told me that she hadn't been able to heal him.

A couple tears fell down my face. "Come on. We have to go..."

Aphmau nodded. "But what about Aaron?" She asked, keeping back a sob.

Garroth came over. "I'll carry him."

I nodded.

We helped Aaron onto Garroth's back. His arms were slunked over Garroth's shoulders.

"How are we going to get him up that cliff?!" I demanded.

"We'll take another way."

"Did you see another way Garroth?! The shadow-Knights will find us before we can find a new way!" I shouted at him, tears streaming down my face.

"Andi, calm down." He said calmly.

Vylad was quiet for a while before interrupting our argument, well, my arguing, Garroth making me even more mad with his cool toned answers.

"I know a place. You guys are talking about the cliff with the inactive portal?"

Garroth nodded. "Yeah, but the portal isn't inactive right now."

Vylad nodded. "Follow me."

Vylad expertly sneaked through the Nether fortress without alerting any guards of our presence.

The rest of us followed him, doing exactly what he was doing.

I was still upset, but I kept it to myself for the most part.

Eventually, we made it out of the fortress.

Vylad led us to the cliff. It didn't look any different than when we used a rope to get down.

"How are we going to get up?" Aphmau asked, eyeing the cliff.

Vylad gave a small smirk. "Right through here." He pressed his hand against the stone.

I expected it to stay where it was, but instead, his hand sunk into the rock.

"Come on. It's a thin layer, so you can get through if you hold your breath."

We all nodded.

"For Aaron, just make sure he goes head first and then he won't have to."

Vylad went first. It was like he was walking through rock.

Aphmau followed after him.

I and Garroth worked on getting Aaron through and then Garroth went.

I looked around before stepping through.

Oh my Irene... I think I'm going to suffica-

My thoughts were interrupted when I got to the other side of the wall.

I took a deep breath. "That was... An experience."

Vylad smiled sheepishly. "Well it's the only thing that the shadow-Knights won't find."

I looked up the staircase. "We have to climb that?"

Vylad nodded. "It leads right to the portal."

He started climbing, the rest of us following.

~SOON~

The arrow wound in my side was burning, but I kept walking. Every time I lifted my leg to go onto the next step, it stung like crazy. I held my hand over it, as if that would make it better.

"We're here."

"Thank Irene." Garroth said, half breathless. "Aaron is heavy."

I smiled to myself.

"Okay, let's go."

We all nodded and quickly followed after Vylad.

The gleaming portal was right in front of us.

Suddenly, it flickered out.

"No!" Garroth rushed over.

"Having problems?" A sneering voice came from behind us. The sound of metal clanked behind us.

The portal came on after a few seconds and we all ran through, not wanting to see what or who was behind us.

Can I just say that this is extremely hard to say?

THIS IS THE SECOND TO LAST CHAPTER IN THE BOOK!

I know, it's sad. But stay tuned for announcements in my little comments on the next chapter. ;) you might like what you find.

There might be a couple more postings after the final chapter, like my brother is going to try writing a chapter about Carl... Let's hope it goes well! I told him he could write a chapter, so I guess I have to let him do it! 😂
