GARROTH'S POV

There was nothing I could do.

If Melody let that arrow go, Andi was dead for sure. If I knocked Melody over, the bow might accidentally shoot the arrow. Thus hurting Andi. But I might have to take that risk.

Andi looked up at Melody. "Umm... A last wish..." She thought about it for a moment. "That you'd let me live." She smirked lightly.

"Your treading on thin ice already." Melody growled. "So I'd be careful what you say next." She moved the bow closer to Andi. "Because it might be the last thing you say before you die."

Andi bit her lip. "Sorry." She smirked, kicking Melody's knee.

"Agh!" She fell backward, dropping her bow, the arrow clattering to the ground.

I immediately jumped in to help Andi. I kicked Melody's bow far out of her reach.

Andi had her sword pointed at Melody, the blade only inches from her throat. "Now, any last requests?" Andi murmured, smirking.

I knew she wouldn't kill her, but Melody didn't know that.

ANDI'S POV

Melody's eyes were widened with fear. "P-please don't kill me." She whimpered. "Vylad is down this hallway to the right. There aren't any guards except the ones that pass every ten minutes. Gene expected me and Carl to win. We're some of the most powerful fighters in our class. But he didn't want any experienced shadow-knights to waste their time so he made us do it or we'd be killed." She whimpered, tears falling down her face.

I looked at her. "How old are you?"

"16." She replied, fear still in her eyes.

My face softened. "I'm not going to kill you." I said softly. "Unless you try any funny business. Then deals off. But can you take us to Vylad?"

She nodded. "Yeah. But don't kill Carl either! He's my only friend..."

I nodded and turned around to tell Aaron and Aphmau. But I didn't see them or Carl.

I finally spotted them, Aphmau kneeling over something... Someone.

"Oh my Irene." I rushed over to where Aphmau was kneeling.

She was crying and her right arm was bent funny.

Aaron laid unconscious, slumped against the ground. A gash on his arm was bandaged roughly and blood was leaking through the bandages.

Garroth roughly brought Melody over.

I turned towards her, angrily. "What in the Nether is wrong with my brother?!" I shouted at her.

She winced at my tone. "He probably got cut by Carl's death sword."

"What does his sword do?"

"Kills people."

I rolled my eyes. "What are the side effects?!" I shouted, trying to control my anger... It wasn't working very well.

She winced again. "It's a dangerous sword. No one lives after being cut with it." She looked over Aaron. "Looks like he has a couple broken ribs as well." She added.

I felt tears running down my face.

Aphmau's tears ran down her face and onto Aaron.

"What do we need to do to heal him?" I asked angrily through my tears.

"Nothing. Nothing can heal heal him other than Irene herself." Melody half joked.

Aphmau's head popped up. She stood up and turned to Melody. "Where you serious about the Irene part?"

"Umm, well I've never met Irene so I wouldn't know."

Aphmau nodded softly.

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"No reason. I just..." She was quiet. "I can heal people. But it's not something I can control. It just... Happens."

Garroth's eyes widened. "Oh yeah... I almost forgot about that."

Aphmau sighed, as if she was extremely tired. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying over Aaron and her broken arm.

She knelt down next to Aaron, brushing the hair out of his face with her left hand, the one not broken.

She concentrated. We all watched and waited.

"I can't stand this." I mumbled. I grabbed Melody by the arm. "We're going to go get Vylad. You guys try to help Aaron."

I stormed off with Melody.

"Take a right here." Melody said softly.

I turned around the corner.

"He's in the third cell."

I stomped over to the cell. "Vylad?"

The man looked up. His clothes were torn and he looked like he hadn't eaten in days.

"What?" He growled angrily.

"I'm Andi... Garroth is my brother-in-law... We're here to get you out."
