Today was the day I was finally out this bitch. After putting on some fresh clothes, I waited for them to discharge me. I was staying at Roman's place until I could find another place to live.

There was a knock on the door. I thought it was Roman, but it was Julian, he had a teddy bear and flowers in his hand, "Uh, I ain't the sweet type or nothing, but I wanna give you this. It's good to see you up on yo feet and all because not a lot of people can ."

"Thank you."

"You good?" he asked.

"Yeah, way better."

Seconds of silence went by and he finally said, "I guess this is bye for now."

"Yeah, thank you."

"I'll see you around," he smiled.

He hugged me gently and made his way out of the room, leaving me alone. The door opened, I thought it was the doctor, but it was Candice  with a teddy bear and a couple balloons, "Hey, how you feeling boo?"

"Better."

"I'm sorry I didn't see you sooner, Calvin told me when I saw him last night around my place."

"Last night? I guess he went to go get that $10,000."

I knew that area, not only was that where Candice lived, but some drug dealers were there also. I always avoided that area and she was trying to move out of there. She was saving up money to live in a better neighborhood.

"Yeah, but this is about you and a speedy recovery. I don't want you stressing, get some rest. I gotta go back to work boo," she hugged me and was out the door.

The doctor came in as soon as she left, "Hello Ms. Michel, how are you?"

"I'm fine, still some soreness, but I'm good."

"That's great to hear," she smiled. She prescribed me some pain meds and escorted me to the front where they gave me my discharge papers.

Finally, I was out. Roman picked me up, he noticed the flowers and teddy bear in my hand, "Who gave you those?"

"Julian."

"Oh, July," he continued to be petty. They didn't like each other of course.

We went to his house. He helped with my belongings and put them in the guest room, "You know if I had my own place, you'd be sleeping in my room."

"I know, but I wouldn't be able to get no sleep with you."

I reached down to grab one of my of my bags and he stopped me, "I got it, you don't gotta lift a finger."

"How am I gonna work? How am I gonna make my money?" I started to worry, that was my main source of income. My boss was a bitch and barely had compassion.

"I got you."

"Nah, I want my own. I wanna provide for myself." Like I said, I hated handouts because someone would hold it over that person's head as if they forgot what they did for them.

"It's a pride thing with you Ang. You need help but won't ask because you thing everybody wants some shit in return, either you take the handout or not. Just letting you know, you gonna be busting your ass tryna provide for yourself when you in the middle of healing, I'm just telling you that," he said.

I sighed, "Alright, I'mma sit down. Besides, I want someone to wait on me hand and foot," I sat on the couch.

"You got me on that, I'mma put yo stuff in the guest room."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

When he headed to the guest room, I tried to relax on the couch. I took my pain meds before I left the hospital. I couldn't help but to feel the stitches in my back.
