Angelic
We all sat and talked about what was going on with our lives.
"So, where are you staying?" Cal asked him.
"At the Holiday Inn."
Our eyebrows furrowed, "Why??"
He cleared his throat, "I didn't plan on staying here at first."
"Of course, that's all you do is leave. You've been doing it for the longest," Cal mumbled.
"No......I mean I actually didn't plan on staying here because I thought you two wouldn't want to talk to me, so I figured, what was the point in staying at my own house? Since we've actually talked, I've changed my mind. I'm staying. There would've been no point if I left after we spoke. All that for nothing. I don't want to leave you two again. Especially after all you went through. I'm not leaving you. I'm making sure of that."
"Awwwww, this is so much. I need a tissue," Candi sniffled as she fanned her eyes.
This girl.
"Let me get this straight, you're staying?" Calvin asked.
He nodded, "I'm going house hunting to find me a place. I'm still gonna stay at the hotel because it would be a lot for me to ask to stay with you guys."
"Understandable."
He stood from the couch, "Well, I'm going back to the hotel," he came up to me and hugged me, "Thank you for hearing me out, both of you."
"We can't do anything but move on, right?" I said.
When he got to him, Calvin stood there and gave him a nod, "Alright."
Our dad left and Candi turned to Calvin, "You could've at least gave him a hug back. The man is trying, he could've not given a fuck about y'all and left shit the way it is without even batting an eye . He wants forgiveness and you know that."
He shrugged, "It is what it is."
She shook her head, "You're gonna have to start opening up to him more. That's what all of you need, especially after all this time and dealing with your mom's shit too."
"I said what I had to say to him earlier, I know you heard what I said too, with yo nosy ass," he snapped.
"Yeah, but damn, all he wants is forgiveness and to move on. Don't be giving me that attitude either because I'm tryna be there for you and you keep pushing me away like I'm the one who did you wrong," she said.
"You don't think I know that?? I'm not gonna give into him just like that and act like everything is cool after all these years. Ang, I'm surprised you actually forgave him so fast."
"That's because I don't wanna hold a grudge like yo ass does. Who has time for that? I'm trying to move on and call it a day," I said while giving him a look.
He shrugged, "Whatever."
"Boy, don't you 'whatever' me. What you need to do is let go of that damn grudge that got you acting like that. Besides, you in my apartment. How the hell you gonna give me attitude??" I had to check him right there.
I wasn't about to have the disrespect in my apartment. In no way, shape, or form.
"Stop being salty and open up to him some more. I know you hurt and all, but shit Calvin, you gotta meet him halfway. That's the least you can do since he came all this way over here. He could've just stayed where he was at and never make an attempt to even talk to y'all . He's reaching out to you and you should take it. How you gonna move on if you don't at least try to talk more about it? I know you feel betrayed, I know feel abandoned, I know you feel hurt, angry, and sad. It's normal to feel like that, especially after all you and Ang been through. The first step to happiness is leaving the past behind you and going ahead. How you think I coped with all the shit that happened for the past couple of months? I didn't forget, but I was slowly but surely moving on from it . You need to do the same," Candi said.
