Letters to Santa and Barbecue

Becca's POV
We arrived in Miami Christmas Eve and now we are driving up to Lauren's parents house. As Lauren parks in the driveway I take a deep breath. "Bec you okay?" She asks I nod she takes my hand making me look at her "Hey don't worry I know they are going to love you just as much as I do." She assures me "Okay let's go" I say smiling signaling to her that I'm ready. We get out of the car and head inside. "I'm home" Lauren says. A woman who looks a little bit like Lauren comes out from the kitchen and embraces Lauren. "Oh it's so good to have you home mija" she says then turns to me and looks confused "Who's this?" Lauren pulls me closer to them "Mom this is Becca my daughter,Becca this my mom or your grandma Clara Jauregui." Lauren says introducing us. "Well it's nice to finally meet you Becca I've heard many things about you" Clara says "Good things I hope" I say causing her to laugh. "Did I hear my girls voice" I hear a male voice say as a man appears he had light brown eyes and a beard. "Dad!!" Lauren says running forwards him and hugging him. "Dad this is Becca my daughter,Becca this is my dad Michael or Papa J." She says "Nice to meet you sir." I say shaking his hand "you too Becca and please call me Papa J" he says I nod as Lauren and I head upstairs to our room or Lauren's old room. I met Taylor and Chris and then we got settled. "You're going to love Christmas here I can already tell. In fact you and I are going to start our very own traditions where we write letters to Santa and then we wait for him to come." Lauren tells me like I'm a five year old. I roll my eyes at her "Mom you do know there's no such thing-" "shhhhhh we are making letters to Santa and you're going to like it or you're grounded" she says cutting me off. I roll my eyes again but agree since I never got to write to Santa when I was younger. Lauren had brought some paper and pencils and markers so we could decorate the letters. I decided to just write my letter first and then decorate it.
Dear Santa,
This is my first time writing to you. I know I've probably most likely have been on your naughty list in the past but I want to let you know that that is about to change. Anyways this year I just want to enjoy Christmas with the ones I love. I mean what more could I ask for when this year has already been so amazing. Also if you could get me a new pennyboard and speakers that would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas -Becca Jauregui
I smiled as I looked at my now finished letter. "It looks great Bec now just to put these in envelopes and put them in the Christmas tree." Lauren says handing me an envelope. "Don't you mail letters to the North Pole?" I ask "Yea but it's a little too late to do that so I figured why not just make his job a little easier and just put the letters in the Christmas tree." She explains I nodded and so we went downstairs and put our letters in the tree. "Girls you might want to get ready our guests will be here soon." Clara says "okay mom" Lauren says. We went upstairs to get dressed. "What exactly are we getting ready for?" I ask "Oh it's just this barbecue that my parents always put on. Some friends and family come over and we eat and hang out and sing a couple of Christmas carols." She explains "oh cool" I say I got dressed in a Christmas sweater that Camila had gotten for me and some jeans and converse. By the time we had gone back downstairs everyone was in the back so we went out to join them. I had meet almost everyone and they seemed nice. I sat next to Lauren for dinner and the food was delicious. "Alright it's time for our annual Christmas carol" Papa J says and we all cheered "I've gotta record this." Lauren says as they start 12 days of Christmas and we were all assigned parts I got the 9th day and Lo got the 12th. So we began and Lauren began to record. "Alright you ready Bec?" She says as I nodded "Nine Dancers dancing" I sang into the camera as everyone else continued. Then it was Lauren's turn "I've got to get this for snapchat twelve drummers drumming" she says after the song was done people began singing some Cuban carols. It was really fun. After everyone went home and Lauren's family went to sleep Lauren and I were the only ones awake. "Alright we've got hot cocoa with marshmallows" she says setting two mugs on the coffee table "check" I say "Elf the best Christmas movie of all time to watch" she says playing it "check" I say "And we've blankets and cuddles" she says covering us in blankets and wrapping her arms around me. "Check and check" I say laying on her chest as I took a sip of cocoa. "Hey Bec?" She says I look up and she smiles "I love you" she says I smile back at her "I love you too mom" I say "you know I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing that" she says "good cause I won't get tired of saying it." I say making her chuckle "Mom?" I say "hmm" she says "Thank you for making my Christmas the best" I say "You're welcome babygirl" she says kissing my forehead. We fell asleep on the couch after three movies. I can't wait until Christmas.
