"What should I do?" I asked Chandler.Right now Chandler is driving us to a place to get clothes. He's been in this long relationship with his girlfriend, so he knows a bit about girls. A few guys from the team and I are going to dinner tonight to celebrate last nights win. Sydney is supposed to be going, but she's going with Cara and Jimmy. I really want to surprise her take her as my dad, but I don't know how she'll react. I've been stressing over this for a couple of weeks now and now I finally have time to ask Chandler about it.
"I don't know, do you really like her?" He replied.
"Yeah, I do. She's smart and pretty. She understands me Chandler. I knew right when I saw her that she was the one, I just don't know how to ask her out."
"Well what does she like?"
"She likes everything. She's so easy to please, I could give her a rock from the side of the road and she'll be happy."
"Pick her up tonight and when you get home, ask her. Or ask her before if you're anxious."
"I don't know man, I don't think I have enough courage to do that." I said.
"Well, do you want her to ask you out? No, you don't. Just do it."
I sighed before taking my seat belt off. We got out of the car and entered a really nice store that had a lot of mens suits and formal wear. I need a few for games, but most importantly for this date with Sydney. I got a few random suits for games and it took me the longest time to find the right shirt and tie for tonight.
"What about this one? Should I get this red one or this red one?" I asked Chandler.
"They both look the same to me." He said.
I sighed. "I think I like this one, I'm going to get it."
I paid for the outfits and put the stuff in Chandlers car. We walked around a bit while he bought a few things and I saw a really nice dress in the window. It screamed Sydney. I feel like she would have something like this in her closet, but I think it would be perfect for dinner. I can just surprise her with it at her house, right? Yeah that's what I'm going to do.
I walked into the store and basically guessed what size she was and even bought her matching shoes. Chandler shook his head at how far I was going for this. I mean, yeah, it's a little too much, but I like her a lot and I want her to know that I care. She makes me a better person and I am thankful for her.
"Hey, help me, are you with Sydney?" I said as I called Cara.
"No, what's up Rob?" She asked.
"I need you to keep Sydney busy until around 4 or how ever long it would take her to get ready tonight? I want to surprise her with a present before she gets ready and I would like to pick her up too."
"Wow, a surprise on a Monday? What's the occasion?"
"I'm going to ask her out." I said
"Oh my gosh, Rob! Yeah, definitely! I'm on my way to her house right now, I'll keep her busy."
"Thank you so much." I said hanging up.
I hope this goes well.
-Sydney POV-
After three amazing games, it is finally Bye Week. The week we can do whatever we want, whenever we want. I have finished all of class work for the rest of the week by staying extra time on the weekdays with longer course hours. I was relieved when this day came because I was so stressed with the games and maintaining a new puppy as well as school.
I just finished taking a shower and Cara is supposed to come over to hang out for a bit. I am currently in the kitchen with my dog eating grapes and feeding him bits of meat that I had from dinner yesterday. He's sitting on my lap right now and he looks so peaceful. His golden fluffy hair is so soft and his big ole' ears makes him look even cuter.
Cara soon arrived and we went into my room just to go over our lives. We really haven't hung out since I started school, so since it's bye week, we are hanging out to catch up on life.
"I can't believe you and Jimmy are dating. You're not the type to date an athlete." I said to Cara.
"I know, my mom was shocked when I told her. But he's so nice and smart and has a great work ethic. Like him being an athlete is just a small part of it, I really like him."
"As long as you're happy, that's all that matters." I laughed.
"But enough about me, how are you and Rob? You guys have been getting a little close lately." She smirked at me.
"We're just friends Cara, nothing is going on."
"You're lying, I can tell by your voice. You guys are always at each others houses and hanging out. Something is going on." She said hitting me.
"Nothing is going on, we're just friends that have a close bond, that's all..." I said unsure.
"You like him Sydney, I know you do. And he really likes you." She smiled.
"How would you know that?"
"Jimmy told me somethings, but you didn't hear it from me." She said kind of uneasy.
"Cara!" I said hitting her.
I wonder what Jimmy told Cara. I mean I guess it does kind of make sense on why Rob would like me. We hangout a lot, but he is yet to make a move on me. Well, there was that time at his party where he kissed me, but that was just for show, right? Yeah, yeah it was.
After that awkward conversation, Cara insisted on having a girls day. We got our nails done and I even paid for each others massages at this place in Boston. Usually we go out shopping when we have girls days, but neither one of us wanted to spend money, so we only got those two things done before it was time for us to start heading home.
Once we got back, I thanked Cara for dropping me off and walked up to my front porch. There was a box with a nice pretty bow on it and it was from...Rob? I picked it up and unlocked my front door and set my keys down on the table. I then opened the box and saw a cute little note on top of a really nice looking creme colored dress and heels to match. I smiled at the fact that Rob bought this for me, he really shouldn't have, but he's so sweet.
After being in complete 'awh' about the gift that was left at my front door, I opened the note that was inside of the box and was not expecting anything that was written down.
Dear Sydney Kraft,
To kick off this awesome, stress free week, I would like to thank you for everything you do. You have earned it by working hard every single day on the field with the team and I and also by being a full time student. You have made myself and many other individuals around you better people, and most importantly, better athletes. Without you, I'm not sure what I would be doing with my life. You give me hope and you motivate me everyday to be the best that I can be and I want to thank you for it. Here is a dress and a nice pair of shoes that I hope you wear to dinner tonight. I'll pick you up at 7:30, see you soon.
Sincerely,
Rob Gronkowski.---------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to post for the New Year! I hope you all have a happy and safe night!
