"I'm home!" I sing out throughout the house
"Stop yelling, you are giving me a headache" my mom snaps at me as she walks past me through the house
My mom has always been this way. Every day I come home hoping for a "how was your day?" Or a "how was school? Anything interesting happen?" But no. My mom is incapable of showing such love
She wakes up and drinks and then she goes to sleep pissy from her days worth of jack Daniels.
I guess she has been this way ever since my father died of cancer when I was five. I was barely even old enough to remember him so I can't say that I miss him much. But she was married to him for twenty years before that time. When he died it took everything from her.
"Well guess what happened at school today." I urge on as I do every day
I get the same response I always do. "I really don't care but I have this feeling that you are going to tell me anyways. So make it short and sweet."
"I got sat next to Wes in geometry." I tell her. "That one guy that everyone talks about? Yeah that one" I continue on without giving her a chance to answer. "He is like the oddest kid in school because he never takes his hood off. Now I have to sit next to him."
"That's great. Now leave me alone"
"It's actually not that great" I reply. "It's actually unfortunate."
"Go away" she groans. "You are the most annoying person I've ever met."
I force a smile and go up to my room.
It would be nice to come home to someone who isn't drunk every day and is in a good mood and maybe even wants to hear about my day but I take what I can get. I love her no matter what.
I know that she probably doesn't mean what she is saying, it's just the alcohol that is speaking so I try not to take it to heart.
Just because she is hurting and doing wrong doesn't mean I shouldn't stop trying for her sake.

"Go get em tiger" Kelsey winks as we enter geometry, giving me a slap on the butt.
Wes is already seating in his new seat that so happens to be next to mine.
I roll my eyes at her. "What do I do?" I ask her. "I feel like I should say something but I am afraid he'll cuss me out or something tragic."
"Oh please. What's the worst he could do?" She asks. "Go say something. Be the great Macy that you are."
I make a face and make my way to the back of the class and take my seat.
From the corner of my eye, I watch as Wes leans forward in his desk with his elbows rested on top of it.
Then his tongue slowly comes out and licks his smirking lips.
The act makes my body shudder and my toes curl. How could such a small action make me weak? I don't even know the guy or even what he looks like and I'm acting like I have some petty crush.
I bite down on my lip and shift uncomfortably in my seat. I don't know how to feel or what to do when I'm around him and close to him like this. He makes me feel a million and one different emotions.
